Did anyone else feel as if their first NIN show felt like being on drugs while being totally sober?

I saw NIN for the first time nearly a year ago now in Cleveland OH and man it was such a weird, trippy, amazing experience. I don’t know if it was the lights or the music or the weird visuals or what but it felt like the oddest most amazing thing ever that left me feeling as if I was on drugs when I’ve never touched drugs in my life.

mind you, I was only vaguely aware of NIN prior to this concert and not a big fan, now I’m a huge fan but man I truly did not know what to expect going into it.

i was also a hijabi at the time I saw them and I guess because of that I just wasn’t used to concerts and everything, just a totally different crowd than I was used to but in a good way honestly, made me realize people who listened to bands like NIN weren’t these terribly weird awful people and were actually chill and kind and thus I wasn’t judged for being different.

Go to songs when you want to cease to exist?

sorry for the depressing question but I guess I’m just going through it recently (or really the last several months) and NIN has helped me time and time again, songs like hurt and everyday is exactly the same and something I can never have.

I miss him I miss him I miss him, we were supposed to be endgame 🥲💔only good thing left in life is NIN and this wonderful community.

How do I go about cleaning/fixing up my stuffed elephant that I’ve had my whole life?

so, I got my elephant when I was born and he’s well clearly been through a lot over the years. He still does play music (a John Lennon tune) and well clearly needs more stuffing and to be sewn up but I’m unsure about how I could possibly go about cleaning him without damaging him even more. He sleeps in my bed nightly and isnt looking too good these days honestly.

Please help me repair and get stains out of my stuffed elephant I’ve had since I was a baby.

so, I got my elephant when I was born as a gift from my grandma I believe. He plays music and his name is elephant and well I can’t put him in the wash or he would fall apart and lose the ability to play music too. I know I need to put more stuffing in him and sew up the hole but I’m unsure about the stains. Any advice?

How do I find meaning in life after leaving my religion (Islam?) How do I cope with the nothingness I feel everyday?

Okay so, I left Islam back in December after being a niqabi for years and overall very involved. Ever since I feel like there’s just no purpose for me in life and there’s no reason to do anything and I dunno it’s very hard.

like, Islam isn’t just a belief system but an entire way of life. Leaving and deconstructing that is extremely hard but what’s harder is trying to find something to fill that void. I feel like all I do most days is work, eat, sleep, repeat and there’s nothing that makes me feel like I am doing anything good in life and I often wonder if I’m just going to die anyways then why bother trying to do anything at all?

In other ways it’s been freeing…I’ve redone my wardrobe, gotten a new job, got my own apartment, etc and can genuinely just do what I want but sometimes I miss the guidelines and rules too. Sometimes I miss simply knowing my purpose in life and what was expected of me and how to dress and such. Other days it’s awesome being able to wear whatever but that guilt doesn’t fully leave from simply wearing a t shirt.

Everyday I see people living their lives and laughing and spending time with people and I can’t help but think “how can they be so happy? what is there to be happy about?”

i don’t know what there is to truly live for and I don’t believe in god or an afterlife anymore, not really. so what’s the point? how do I find a point?

Where do you go in Cleveland on days where you feel everything is meaningless and you just wish to feel alive again?

going through a weird transitional phase in my life and most days (for the last several months) I feel like all i do is eat, sleep, work, repeat and life feels a bit dull and depressing and I’m struggling to find any meaning and just looking for maybe some good spots to go to…preferably somewhere with a good view or good music or just out in nature.

edit- wow thanks for all of the recs! I’ve read through each and every one and I’m putting together a list of places I’d like to visit. My life has just been so bleh after leaving my faith (see post history for more, won’t go into here) and I’ve been struggling to find reasons to continue here.

Free ticket available for foo fighters show tomorrow, hoping for it to go to a good home.

So, I got 4 foo fighters tickets for myself(21f), my parents, and my aunt, who were supposed to be visiting from New York but unfortunately my aunt couldn’t make it so I have a spare ticket. It is in section 510 so it’s not like it’s the best ticket (though it was $75), I’m also not trying to make any money off of it but I’m just hoping to find someone who might want to go. you’re welcome to go in with us (I promise my parents are cool enough) or I can just transfer the ticket.

I guess the only thing I ask is no resellers please, I’d rather it go to a genuine fan who might otherwise not be able to go.

Me at (20) versus me now at (21) years old. Slowly learning to be more confident in my own body and finding my own style and who I really am.

Hi everyone, so I was a niqabi for 3 1/2 years, during all of college basically and recently uncovered. It’s been a journey of trying to figure out who I am without covering and without religion honestly, but slowly but surely I’m getting there. I’ve lost pretty much all friends and family after i stopped covering but I’ve learned to honestly just stop caring what others think of me and not let their opinions have weight, I’m proud of me. I feel more like my authentic self than I ever have before but for sure it’s hard to not see my body as sinful and such.

edit- also please I’m not trying to promote hate towards any group, just sharing my personal journey and experience.

edit 2- I just wanted to say that I chose to be Muslim as a teenager after a rough patch in my life and Islam at the time gave me structure and a reason to keep going but now it’s no longer what serves me in life nor does it align with my values anymore. I just wanted to say it was 100% my choice to become Muslim and to leave. some comments imply I escaped or ”opened my brain” or whatever when it was always my decision. I fully support a woman’s right to CHOOSE whether to be religious or not or whether to cover or not. I left for a variety of reasons too, one was me being just very heartbroken and realizing I did a lot for the sake of someone I’d never be good enough for, but it wasn’t only for a man, it was for god to and myself. But, the only way to truly heal was to leave and the only way to respect my own values at this point is to leave.

Saying “yay You’re free now” or “your mind works again“ isn’t a compliment really. I got my bachelors degree while fully covered, I worked multiple jobs fully covered, and accomplished a lot more. I was always “free” and had a brain and it implies a woman who is covered is any less intelligent and such which is odd. Please no need to put other women down to prop me up.

Edit 3- I’m happy to celebrate this new chapter of my life and all it brings after being religious my entire life, this is my first time in my life without any religion after being born and raised Christian and becoming Muslim at 17. im excited and scared and all of the things to figure out who I am just outside of it all for the first time. I felt I used religion as a bandaid throughout my life to cope with things or give my life purpose or structure, now I feel brave enough to explore the world and myself without any of that.

Ex Muslim here- I feel like I’m an agnostic Muslim yet not Muslim but not agnostic all at the same time. Anyone else feel the same?

So, I left Islam awhile ago and yet I sometimes find myself still making dua or wearing hijab occasionally or listening to nasheeds or whatever, but I don’t do the prayers and don’t consider myself to be a Muslim anymore for a large variety of reasons.

but, does anyone else feel the same?

Can someone please explain the beef between NIN and MM to me in simple terms?

If I say I like MM to NIN fans it’s an issue or if I say I like NIN to MM fans it’s an issue. I guess I’m not old enough to understand the beef between the two (I’m 21) I am not saying I like one more than the other or supporting the artist, music wise I like both. Anyways, I know it probably goes pretty far back I’m just looking for a simple explanation.

Sorry if I sound ignorant. I’m a pretty casual Marilyn Manson listener nowadays but I’ve seen both live and have both on playlists currently.
