Brick supplier for old houses?

I'm getting an exterior door removed in my century home (brick exterior), and I need to order some bricks. Masons have told me that it's going to be very difficult to find bricks that match my existing exterior given the age. I plan on checking out 8 Point in town to see if they anything.

Does anyone know of any other places in town or close by that might have what I need?

Backsplash color and extending to ceiling or not?

I'm having my kitchen remodeled. This won't be DIY, and I will have a GC who will have subcontractors do all the work.

I'm a bit torn on what to do for the backsplash design, specifically, how far to extend the backsplash. I've attached 3 pics of my kitchen design. please note the only colors fixed in the design are the warm white cabinets. everything else is a dummy color right now. i will likely go with a lighter countertop.

For the backsplash, we’re planning on 3"x6" subway tile. What's not yet decided is the color of the tile and how far to extend the backsplash up the wall.

I'm thinking of running the backsplash all the way to the ceiling, but now I’m worried that may feel too busy and distract from the windows on both of the hood (note they're double casement windows in reality), which are the focal points of that wall.. Also I think extending the backsplash to the ceiling is a very modern trend (this is a 1927 tudor home)?

I was thinking of ending the backsplash below the upper cabinets, but extending it higher behind the hood. My concern with this is this creates an awkward “upside-down T” look.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might look good here?

Maybe extending to the ceiling all across makes the most sense? And to mitigate the "busyness" of that look, perhaps I can just choose a subtle color for the backsplash?

Matching brick on 100 year old house?

I have a 100 year old brick tudor. I'm getting my kitchen remodeled and as part of the remodel, the useless exterior door in the kitchen will be replaced with a window, and the part of the (to be removed) door that will not be replaced by a window will need to be filled with brick on the exterior.

The previous homeowner left me with some brick in the shed. I haven't checked to see if they match the house's original brick, but I believe it might, but it's not enough to fill the gap. If I had to guess it's probably enough for 1/3 - 1/2 of the gap, so I need to buy more brick.

But my understanding from talking to contractors is that it will not be possible to find brick that matches the original brick of my house. How true is this? Is this because bricks from 100 years old are very different from nowadays, and/or because the bricks age over time and change color?

Felsina cooking class

My 10 year old and I will be in Bologna in late June, and we'd like to take a cooking class. I see lots of people recommending Felsina so we are planning on booking with them. It looks like they're close to 200 euros per person.

I haven't done many cooking classes in the past, and was under the impression it'd be a lot cheaper...

Is it this expensive because it's a private class and/or because Felsina has a great reputation in the area?

Is a T5 compatible with my basking platform?

I've been using a dual dome heat+uvb system for my turtle, and would like to upgrade to a T5. He has an above the tank basking platform: this one

I'm wondering if a T5 will work with this, and if so what kind of T5 fixture and bulb should I get?

What types of tile for backsplash

This isn't a DIY project, but I do need to figure out what tiles to buy for my backsplash in a kitchen remodel, which will be installed by a subcontractor.

I'm not doing anything extraordinary. Just regular 3x6" subway tiles. I have yet to figure out how high up from the countertop I want to extend the backsplash. I'm leaning towards not going all the way to the ceiling and will probably go under the the cabinets.

With that said, I'm wondering if I need to order some special kind of subway tile for backsplash? I'll probably just get ceramic or porcelain, but are there subway tiles with specific types of edges that I need for backsplash?

Is the earliest underground colosseum tour at 8:30AM or 9:30AM Rome time?

Is the earliest underground colosseum tour at 8:30AM or 9:30AM Rome time?

I've seen conflicting info for this. Some sources stated the earliest underground colosseum tour is at 8:30AM and some other sources stated it's at 9:30AM (all in Rome time).

I'm going to try to book the earliest tour available for June 15th, and I'm crazy enough to wake up in the middle of the night (I'm in eastern time) to try to snatch this ticket, but I don't want to wake up too early, or worse, wake up too late....

Not sure if anyone will see this in time. it's 10:30PM ET right now. I have my alarm set for 2:25AM ET, assuming the ticket becomes available at 8:30AM Rome time (2:30AM ET)

Is an oura ring really returnable for 6 moths?

I bought an oura ring for a family member and they decided they don't want it. We haven't opened the box yet actually, and I requested a return. I'm out of town for awhile so I was thinking of asking someone to help me return it and/or wait until I'm back in town to return it.

I reached out to Oura voa live chat to inquire about the deadline to return, and was told their shipping label is valid for 6 months and that I can return it any time within 6 months, but the website seems to suggest the return window is 30 days, so now i'm confused. I'll be back in a few weeks but i'll be outside the 30 day window, but certainly well within the 6 months window.

Help with countertop and backsplash selection for tudor kitchen remodel

We’re remodeling the kitchen in our Tudor-style home and have already selected warm white cabinets and the cabinet layout, but I’m struggling with the countertop and backsplash choices.

I've attached 3 photos below.

The current dark gray/black countertop in the photos is just a placeholder. I’m leaning toward a lighter countertop (white or light gray) with less contrast against the cabinets to create more continuity in this relatively small kitchen (~110 sq ft). Curious whether others think that makes sense.

For the backsplash, we’re planning on 3"x6" subway tile, likely in a white or off-white tone. The bigger issue is the layout on the range wall with the two windows.

Originally I planned to run the backsplash all the way to the ceiling, but now I’m worried that may feel too busy and distract from the windows on both of the hood (note they're double casement windows in reality), which are the focal points of that wall.. I’m leaning toward ending the backsplash below the upper cabinets, but extending it higher behind the hood. My concern is that this creates an awkward “upside-down T” look.

When does registration for classes begin for middle school?

My son will be going to Tappan next year for 6th grade, and I have not received any emails regarding registering for classes. I thought it was later in the summer, but he came home today saying his friends already signed up for some electives for the Fall, so I'm confused. I also checked the AAPS website and don't see anything about this.

Unlimited high speed data while in europe for a month?

I'm from the US will be in Italy, Austria, and Czech Republic from June 12 - July 8, and I'm thinking of getting a local data plan, preferably via an eSim because I need to keep my physical sim in my iphone so I can receive calls and texts on my US number.

Are there actual unlimited plans for under $60 USD for the month? All the ones I've been looking at aren't actually unlimited.

Chase business checkings bonus tracker not reflecting deposit

I made an ACH transfer from Fidelity to my Chase business checkings account on May 6th. in my chase checkings transaction history i see this:

>Date: May 7, 2026
Description:
ORIG CO NAME:FID BKG SVC LLC
ORIG ID:omitted
DESC DATE:260507
CO ENTRY DESCR:MONEYLINE
SEC:WEB
TRACE#:omitted
EED:omitted
IND ID:omitted
IND NAME:omitted
TRN:omitted

>Type: ACH credit
Amount: $2,000.00
Balance: $2,000.00

but in my bonus tracker, it still says:

>Deposit $2,000 in external funds into your account by 06/05/2026.

so it seems it still has not picked up my deposit from 7 days ago. should i just wait a couple more days and if it doesn't show up then i should make a legit DD from my employer instead of an ACH from fidelity?

Foreign transaction fees on Usbank business triple cash and altitude connect

I got both business cards recently and noticed the business triple cash card charges 3% foreign transaction fees, whereas the altitude connect has no foreign transaction fee.

I've had personal cards in the past where usbank added foreign transaction fees (e.g., the altitude go card started charging foreign transaction fees in the past 1-2 years) -- apparently notified me of this change but I don't recall this happening and found out after I already accumulated a lot of foreign transaction fees.

anyone know if they plan to do the same with the altitude connect card in the next year?

I'll been traveling internationally a lot in the next year and just want to make sure there are no surprises

Tall aquarium decor turtle and fish tank?

I have a 125 gallon marineland tank with a yellow bellied slider (7-8") and a bunch of tetras and a few guppies. The tank is about 19-20" in height.

I want to add more obstructions and hiding areas for my fish vertically, especially for the guppies since most of them hang out at the surface. Right now, i only have small drift wood, castles, and some other decor, but none of them extends vertically by much (maybe 5" at most).

Any suggestions for some tall aquarium decor?
