[I ate] Miang Kham, a Thai leaf wrapped snack with sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors

A traditional Thai one bite wrap made with betel leaves and, on rare occasions, lotus petals. It’s filled with bite sized dried shrimp, toasted coconut, peanuts, lime, ginger, shallots, and chilies, then finished with a sweet tamarind sauce.

Delicious pring Phnom Penh street snack with salt sugar and chilies

Pring is the Khmer name for a small fruit that turns dark purple black when ripe. It is often eaten as a street snack with salt, sugar, and chilies, and is rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, iron, and potassium.

Golden Thai Desserts at Chiang Mai Gate Market

My favorite desserts: Foi Thong (golden threads), Thong Yip (pinched gold), Thong Yot (gold drops), and Med Khanoon. Each one had its own texture and sweetness, and I genuinely enjoyed every bite.

Dried shrimp and squid piled high in Phnom Penh markets

They’re everywhere in Phnom Penh’s open markets, piled high in baskets and trays and used in many Khmer dishes or as snacks.

A staple of Cambodian cooking, they’re especially common at places like Orussey Market, where dedicated vendors sell a wide variety of dried seafood.

Khmer Beef Kebabs (Sach Ko Ang) Have Such a Unique Flavor

I’ve tried beef kebabs across Southeast Asia, but none are quite the same as Khmer ones. Khmer beef kebabs are so tasty and delicious.

Has anyone tried grilled pig brain and dtam kan un salad?

At Mae Hia Fresh Market, YouTuber Mark Wiens tried dtam kanun salad and Aep Ong Orin, a grilled pig’s brain dish with herbs, curry paste, and banana leaves.

I followed his lead and tried the same grilled pig brain and dtam kanun salad at Mae Hia. It was a unique and memorable experience.

First time trying street food on Phnom Penh Walking Street unforgettable experience

Truly enjoyed my first street food experience on the Phnom Penh walking street grilled calamari, fresh grilled jumbo prawns, grilled Khmer beef skewers, and fresh palm fruit juice. Then all of a sudden, the rain started pouring. It turned into such a memorable evening that I’ll remember for a long time. Everyone should experience something like this at least once in their lifetime!
