I was talking to a Holocaust survivor today. Her opinion on the Genocide against Palestinians surprised me

I was talking to a Holocaust survivor today in Germany. It was an old woman born in 1938 who is doing a voluntary job in a social center of a big city in Germany.

After having talked about the Holocaust with a 100 year old German man just before, I asked her about how she experienced the Holocaust, as I just learned she was nearly 90 years old aswell. Despite her high age, she was still very talkative and active in this community, in her voluntary work. I asked her if she knew about the Holocaust at the time, and if Germans as a whole society were aware of the crimes carried out by the Nazis.

It turned out she was a Holocaust survivor, who lost many relatives in the Holocaust, including her siblings.

I never met a Holocaust survivor before (aside from going to lectures and talks in school time), having met and talked to her briefly several times before, this revelation was nothing I expected. We were talking about the circumstances and her experiences as a child and woman in Germany who survived the Holocaust.

She then brought up the topic of Israel, saying how not everything was right what the Israelis did and that Netanyahu alongside "the orthodox" should be "taken out" there, and hoped that Netanyahu would not get reelected this year. I mentioned how large parts of the Israeli society actually supported the Genocide of the Palestinians, according to many polls.

She claimed they (the Palestinians) would have started this. She told me she was very upset about pro-Palestinian protests and that the protesters would be pro-Hamas too. She was bringing up the October 7th terrorist attacks and the killing of children by the Hamas. I told her I actually did not want to argue with her (imagine arguing about Israel with a 90 years old Holocaust survivor) but I did tell her my opinion of how this can not justify the murder of 70'000 Palestinian civilians. Her response was "well, they should not have sympathized with them (Hamas)".

I was shocked to find how someone who experienced massive injustice would make such inhumane claims, while before critisizing Netanyahu herself.

She also told me before that I should definitely visit Israel one day, how prosperous and beautiful the land was and how "the Arabs" would all have had jobs there. During our conversation, she also looked me deep in the eye and said energetically "if someone beats me, I beat him back". That was probably the most memorable moment of our conversation.

Earlier this day, at the event were this happened (a festivity of this social center), I also had the opportunity to talk to a local German politican of CDU party, running for office of a district major, whom I confronted about his opinion on Palestine and the Genocide. Recently the new General secretary of CDU, Franziska Hoppermann, again made claims that "there is no Genocide in Gaza, we stand with Israel". The response of the local politician was practically the same, denying the Genocide, praising Israels "right to defend itself", calling the fact that there are 70'000+ Palestinian civilian victims since October 7th a false claim I could not prove, after I asked him about his source for claims he made that on October 7th, children were being raped by Hamas (he said his source was the Internet and I should visit "Youtube.de"). I told him these were offical numbers that Israel accepted. He then told me he was not there to discuss Geopolitical subjects.

His CDU colleague with whom he visited the event also mentioned the "Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft" ("German-Israeli Society"), which he could simply ask to give me "15 sources" about these before claims that would prove their points and that I would still not accept them. He also mentioned how he was considering joining the "Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft". I mentioned there was a pedophile scandal about this institution, and how the president of this "DIG" society, Volker Beck (Green party), in the 1980s made the claim that "pedosexuality has to be decriminalized". The CDU politician then actually went on to defend these claims and tried putting them into perspective, which was something I absolutely did not expect either. I informed him how the former treasurer of the DIG, Hartmut Ebbing, recently got convicted for sexual abuse of a child, and that I was recently learning how pedosexual criminals were protected by Israel if they fled to this country. His response to this was "and how well does the LGBTQ+ community stand in Palestine?". You could not make this up.

Anyone went back from Hammer to regular Brick?

Just curious

Had the Plastic one and sold it (mainly because of the weak speakers and I wanted to try the 34XXSP instead) and am head over heels with my Hammer, but still miss my black Plastic Brick (I also think White and red looks amazing)

This is Mathias Döpfner, the man responsible for running a disinformation campaign in the EU for Israel. He runs Axel Springer and controls roughly 95% of the group. Through it, he shapes the reality that millions of people read every single day. Bild. Die Welt. Politico. Business Insider.

The Daily Telegraph in Britain. Fakt in Poland. Dozens of outlets across the continent, all drawing from the same source.

In a leaked email, Mathias Döpfner unapologetically names the country he's working so hard for: "Zionism uber alles. Israel my country."

For that kind of service, Israel awarded him the Presidential Medal of Honor. He received it alongside Miriam Adelson.

Leaked photo shows two blindfolded elderly Palestinians, alongside an israeli soldier hours before Israeli forces killed them in November 2024

A newly leaked photo shows two blindfolded elderly Palestinians, Nadi Ma’rouf, 63, and Ali Ma’rouf, 60, alongside an Israeli soldier hours before Israeli forces killed them in November 2024, according to journalist Younis Tirawi, who published the photo.

He reported Israeli forces used the men as human shields before executing them in Beit Lahia. The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights documented at the time that the bodies of Nadi and Ali, along with 25-year-old Hamza al-Hatoo, arrived after Israeli forces shot them near Al-Khaldi Mosque.

PCHR said its researchers received information that all three had been detained by Israeli forces, released, and then shot shortly afterward.

Al Jazeera later reported Palestinian accounts that Nadi and Ali were held for days and forced to enter buildings ahead of Israeli soldiers as human shields before being released and shot after walking only a short distance.

Brick Hammer is near perfection

I especially love playing DS games on it. Already beat MarioKartDS and am in world 4 of NSMB, both outstanding titles, the clicky controls fit so well for DS games imo.

The speakers, while not the best ever, offer a truly satisfying experience compared to all 3.5"ish devices I owned before. Build quality is amazing and the screen is truly incredible, the resolution is pretty high and a native integer scale for DS games (the only system that has native integer scale with the Brick screen).

Device: TrimUI Brick Hammer

Game: Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon (NDS)

I'm enjoying my Brick Hammer more than my Thor (Thor rant, why I might sell mine after 10 months)

Just got my Brick Hammer two weeks ago and it might still be honeymoon phase but I enjoy it over using my Thor I got in November and barely played for the following reasons:

* Might Sound weird but that might be my number one reason: I can still smell the plastic of the Thor shell after 10 months (it lived in its TPU case most of the time but I ventilated it a lot before), I am pretty sensitve to plastic smells and cant confidently say this is a high quality shell that I enjoy smelling all the time while playing lol. I'd prefer another type of plastic for the outer shell. the smelling became noticable again because I removed the TPU case which kind of held it back/covered the shell

* The TPU case offered some grip but today I really noticed how it damaged the shell underneath because of dust particles which got in through the vent hole of the case probably. So I removed the case and again realized it's really not comfortable without case or grip

* Glass fronts, after almost a year I get why everyone hates them, black Thor easily gets smudgy, when you have no microfiber cloth and IPA at hand it is distracting for sure

* Outer shell appears rather cheap. Looks cheap, feels cheap imo, smells cheap. It could be much better if it had a New3DSXL like texture that adds a lot of grip. I find it too slippery and just cheapish feeling.

* Screen, IDK if it is Placebo but I learned about its PWM dimming before I got it and I feel it does strain my eyes more and might induce headache (PWM screens are flickering all the time which is stressing for the eyes and also results in other symptoms). Colors do look pretty good though but it might be this subtle annoyance that sometimes makes me want to put down my Thor after 5-10 mins of play, something I noticed

* 3DS gameplay is good but not perfect, same is true for Switch. I am not a tinkerer too. I'm aware it's a software and not a hardware issue, but the reason I chose the Thor over the Konkr Pocket Fit in October was that it plays 3DS. I think playing OoT 3D 4K was fun but besides I don't find myself enjoying 3DS on it as much as I expected (and I didnt expect playing 3DS too much at all) so the dual screen being worth that much is questionable for me

* Heat. Even at 68° I find it a bit annoying how the top right part of the bottom screen and also the Part around the Face Buttons gets warm easily, makes me not want to play Switch games on it for example, as it then gets even warmer. Makes it feel like a rushed/poor engineering

* Hinge longevity. I was anxious from the beginning and my warranty is soon expiring and I feel it can break any day and I will be screwed. Also, the clamshell formfactor doesnt make me want to carry it without a case at all as dust easily gets inside. I don't really carry things of that weight around in my sling bag at all though, even my Brick Hammer feels almost too heavy to carry but it's much more ideal.

* I dislike how I have to baby the Thor (as it's very expensive for a handheld imo, paid 350€ + accessories = 420 something for my Pro in October) and I put it in the TPU case and it got scratches underneath anyways, and I never carried it without another case too, so clueless how the dust got inside. I expect it to break once it slips out of my hands, and the outer plastic is really slippery imo.

I found myself in a little crisis where I don't want to sell it as its functional enough for me to takeover tasks like data storage (got a 1TB card inside my Pro), TV output on this instead of PC and so on but I don't play games as much on it. There are a few listed locally for 400+ and I don't know if I should sell before it falls in price sometime.

I could go on writing but I think it's already too long lol.

First game beat on the Hammer: Mario Kart DS

DS games are awesome on this thing except for some audio stutters when waking the device (NextUI)

Next will be NSMB. MKDS is ideal for trying to 3* every cup. So much fun, one of the best Mario Kart games.

General secretary of Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party in Germany: "There is no Genocide in Gaza, we are standing on the side with Israel"

Franziska Hoppermann just took office of being the new General secretary of CDU party and made these statements.

Germany still allows weapons and armory to be sent to Israel, since October 7th 2023, arms of the value of 500 Million USD were sent to Israel, making Germany the second biggest arms provider for Israel.

Additionally, Germany plans to jail people for up to five years for the crime of denying Israels "right to exist".

German chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) said, Israel was doing the "Drecksarbeit" (dirty work) for "us", refering to the attack of Israel against Iran. When asked about the breaking of international laws that Israel did carrying out these attacks, he basically said that laws aren't that important in a situation like this and that Israel was "our partners".

German foreign minister Wadephul (CDU) just claimed that international law was something like traffic regulations that was more like an "orientation".

All Genocide deniers and supporters will be jailed in Den Haag one day, if God wills.
