archive.isJames Goldston, Producer of the Controversial Martin Bashir Documentary "Living With Michael Jackson," Named Executive Producer of Netflix’s “Michael Jackson: The Verdict”
James Goldston, former president of ABC News and a veteran television producer, is serving as one of the executive producers of Netflix’s upcoming three-part docuseries Michael Jackson: The Verdict, which is scheduled to premiere on June 3, 2026.
The series, directed by Nick Green and with David Herman as showrunner, examines Michael Jackson’s 2005 child molestation trial. It features interviews with prosecutors, defense attorneys, jurors, journalists, and other insiders involved in the high-profile case at Neverland Ranch.
Goldston previously produced the 2003 ITV documentary Living with Michael Jackson, hosted by journalist Martin Bashir. Goldston maintained a close professional and personal relationship with the film's interviewer, Martin Bashir. He was responsible for overseeing the editorial direction of the project, which involved condensing approximately eight months of footage (recorded between May 2002 and January 2003) into a cohesive, 110-minute broadcast.
This included the highly criticized editing that made the doc become highly controversial and is often cited as a major factor in shaping negative public perceptions leading up to the 2005 trial Michael faced. This is cause for concern.
