CMV: Biden would go down as the best president in a long time if he didn't try for a second term and let dems have a proper primary.

Afaik Biden kinda disliked Obama privately a bit since he was sidelined in 2016 . I think he privately told his aides that "obama never completely believed in me " and very strongly believed that he would have beaten trump if he was the dem nominee instead of Clinton.

Obama and Biden don't have that good of a relationship since then. As his term progressed it was clear that biden largely relied on his wife and son for advice instead of his cabinet whd and didn't even meet them all that much .

Since his strategy to avoid criticism was just not talk much about it to anyone, he was very offended when he was persuaded to drop out . The party wanted a mini primary since they (or atleast pelosi ) didn't believe that she could win it and welp that's what happened .

But they had no option other than nominating her since biden endorsed her after dropping out . Now imagine if biden agreed to not run again as soon as he started out , maybe he would get insecure about the party and they inturn would be much more firmly behind him. In a healthy primary the dems have a much better chance to nominate some one better and I think Trump wouldn't win then . Harris ran a bad campaign and still managed to nearly win Wisconsin . A slightly stronger candidate would probably win the rust belt and Georgia as well. ( Maybe not Arizona and NC but this is the worst case )

Biden would then leave office with a much better legacy and legislative accomplishments.

Is it true that obama and Biden didn't really have much "bromance " behind the scenes ?

I know Biden kinda hated that he was sidelined in favour of Hillary in 2016 but I didn't know they kinda dislike each other to this point . Anyone knows why exactly though ? Are there some other reasons why they don't get along well ? I think his son had an interview last year where he stopped just short of attacking obama , ( he did attack the Obama staffers ) and was open about his dislike for pelosi .

I think the 2024 loss really messed up the lot and Biden kinda openly suggested that Harris wasn't a good candidate , Harris also blamed prominent dems in her book about their lukewarm response for the campaign akaik .

Do obama and Biden really dislike each other as much the 2024 sunset seems to suggest ?

How would 2016 turn out If obama threw his weight behind biden instead of clinton ?

Also apparantly biden and obama didn't get along well with each other ever since they teamed up and that persists to this day ..I don't know how true it is would sure love if anyone knows more about it

Anyone kinda surprised that Trump doesn't attack thune at all despite them backing different candidates in republican primaries ?

I know Thune is the senate majority leader but I have never gotten the impression that Trump cares much about any of that. He used to frequently attack Mitch but nothing so far against Thune. Thune has endorsed Cornyn and backed Murkowski in 2022 despite trump attacking her back then .

I am tired about the racism and prejudice Indians face even from "progressive" folks

It's so common to make sweeping generalisations about India or indians and just slide with it . You can say whatever you want and noone really seems to care . I don't like to use the terms but saviour complex and holier than thou attitude is visible more than ever . You see a indian being rude to service staff ? " Must be a upper caste ". ( Even though treating service staff like dirt is a pan india problem )

Now naturally I can't be denying that indian women have it rough and it's obviously a challenge being a lady in india . Yet how many comments or even articles do you see with that generalise Iran ? Somehow suddenly ppl have nuance and it's the IRGC that's executing women ( yes it is not denying that ) but all this goes down the drain when it's about india.

Another example is how folks always somehow know that generalising all Israelis for their crimes in Palestine isn't ok. Even though a very large number of Israelis support one state solution and Israel would almost certainly still annex all of west bank under a non likud government.

The rant is specifically about progressives ofc , conservatives think we are subhuman or something.

Do you think being a man still has advantages in politics regardless of party ?

I do tbh .It's somewhat subtle but not that difficult to spot when you pay attention. For example progressive women tend to have an issue with men turning out for them . For example AOC always performs better among women compared to men . Warren also performs much better among women then men. Compare that to sanders who enjoys a relatively balanced support base in terms of gender .

Yes Vermont is slightly more progressive compared to Massachusetts but sanders is also more progressive compared to Warren .

An additional example is that of Platner , while polls this far out aren't that reliable but it seems that he is doing very well among men despite being a progressive.

While I obviously don't have data for it but I think there is a non negligible percent of even progressive men who have an easier time finding male candidates trustworthy etc .

To some extent I think it also has to do with the fact that women who rant too much are seen as whinny snd annoying while men who do are seen as passionate .

Decline in US fertility rate since 2000 .

Source is wiki . As y'all can see it has been declining quite a bit since 2020s. Since our generation is the loneliest by a lot of accounts, I feel it's probably going to decline more in the coming years .

Is someone of my skill set actually hireable in this economy ?

So to give you a bit of background, I will be completing my degree in about 6 months from now I live in an Asian country.

I feel I can do very well in operations, supply chain management or jobs that need optimising like fixing delays etc . Can do ok in jobs related to my degree as well since most jobs have a big training period )

Open to working anywhere in the world atm as well as remote across timezones. Pay isn't much of a bar working remote since I am happy with about 20k USD as well. ( Onsite obviously varries depending on where it is )

So to give you a bit of background, I will be completing my degree in about 6 months from now ( worst case scenario here since I might need an extra sem ) My grades aren't the best since I had a mental health issue for the last few years but atleast I am happy I am completing my degree .
