Jubilee sucks oxygen from our timelines with slop that’s engineered to go viral through outrage. And you, as a viewer, deserve better. - Matt Bernstein

Aug 16, 2026. Here’s the full 3-minutes on YouTube: we as a society have progressed past the need for jubilee. - matt bernstein - Aug 16, 2026 (YouTube)

~~~~~~
And these inflammatory decisions are made, on purpose, by Jason Lee because they make People click, they make People angry, and angry People fight in comment sections.
And what all of this adds up to is, not creating Human connection as Jubilee's website states its mission is. No, no. What it adds up to is, a lot of money for Jason Lee.
As a content creator, I feel passionately about making content that is productive, that does foster understanding, that maybe even provokes thoughtful debate. And there's a ton of People making that content, who I agree and disagree with on various topics.
Jubilee is not one of those People. They suck oxygen out of all of our timelines by creating slop — engineered to go viral through outrage — all while widening the divides they claim to be bridging. And you, as a Viewer, deserve better.
The Oscar Peterson Trio - Moten Swing (1963)
Happy Birthday to Oscar Peterson! He would’ve been 101 years old today (born Aug 15, 1925 in Montreal).
I don’t have my own analysis of this song, but I love it. It has my favorite sounds on the Night Train album. Enjoy 🎶
YouTube is threatening to ban "The Nerd Reich with Gil Duran." Gil’s book gets published next week and his channel’s been flooded with fake "copyright strike" complaints. See below for how you can help…
Gil Duran of The Nerd Reich - Aug 13, 2026. Here’s the YouTube link: Will YouTube Ban The Nerd Reich Podcast? - The Nerd Reich with Gil Duran - Aug 13, 2026 (YouTube)
From Gil's description:
YouTube is threatening to ban the Nerd Reich podcast and we'll probably be gone by the end of the week. ~:~ Why? We're being flooded with a campaign of false complaints—one week before my book is published. We've been on YouTube for 1.5 years with no problems. Suddenly, we're getting multiple fake "copyright strike" complaints every day. This is clearly a coordinated effort—and it's working. ~:~ YouTube's policy is "guilty until proven innocent." So the company is deleting our videos about Jeffrey Epstein's connection to Bitcoin and JD Vance's connection to Curtis Yarvin—and threatening to deplatform our entire podcast. YouTube's ridiculous bureaucracy refuses to listen to reason.
Here's how you can help:
1. Subscribe to The Nerd Reich Newsletter to keep in touch as we navigate this situation. We'll probably need to find a video platform that won't censor us for speaking out against tech fascism: thenerdreich.com
2. Send an email to YouTube. The company only responds to public and media pressure, so send an email to: press @ google . com
3. Pre-order "The Nerd Reich" book, which will be released next week. This effort to erase our channel is clearly timed for the publication of my book, which exposes the roots of Silicon Valley extremism: https://bookshop.org/a/109206/9781668...
THANK YOU to our 26,000 YouTube subscribers for your support over the past 1.5 years. I didn't want to start a video podcast because I didn't think we'd have much of an audience. But some of our episodes got over 150,000 views, and our audience grew with every episode. ~:~ Hopefully, YouTube will back down. But remember: We'll still be available on all audio platforms, and you can always subscribe there. When we find a new place to host our video pod, I'll give an update on the Nerd Reich newsletter.
The DSA College Students Who Are Taking Local Politics by Storm
Archive: archive.is/Ah1dp ~:~:~ Article is Aug 11, 2026 in The New Republic. Written by Paul Hudes. Below are snippets (YDSA = Young Democratic Socialists of America):
“We sort of thought we were the first ones to have done this,” Sam Poole, a rising Cornell junior who served as Shvets’s campaign manager, told me. It wasn’t until Poole began having conversations with other chapters that he discovered there were at least three YDSA chapters since 2024 that had successfully put students up for city council seats: Marek Broderick at the University of Vermont in Burlington; Adrian Stancil-Martin at Lawrence University, in Appleton, Wisconsin; and UC Berkeley’s Cecilia Lunaparra. There was, it seemed, a well of student-majority districts across the country that the YDSA might compete in.
...........
In their time in office, these YDSAers have taken on a range of issues, but most frequently tenant protections and housing policy.
...........
These students have been met with mixed opinions from their older city council peers.
“In a college town like Burlington, a good amount of our small city population is made up of students ... so it’s important they have representation on the council,” said Ben Traverse, a Burlington city council member. He said the “only downside historically of students who have served on the council” is that they often aren’t long-term residents and subsequently create turnover. He noted that one of Broderick’s predecessors seemingly moved out of town during their term.
...........
The door knocking and voter registration efforts that Shvets, Broderick, Stancil-Martin, and Lunaparra relied on to get elected, if scaled across the country, could provide serious leg work for a potential DSA candidate—Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, perhaps?—in the next presidential election.
“DSA chapters have this whole demographic that [the chapters] don’t necessarily have the skills to reach most effectively,” Poole said. “Young people are a huge part of the Democratic Party’s base, a huge part of DSA’s base, and a huge part of the future of the progressive movement.”
All of the other YDSAers I talked to emphasized the critical role these seats could play in helping YDSA pursue higher offices. “You show people in your town or your city that socialists can get elected and can succeed in government, of meeting the needs of people, and so you’re more likely to believe in that vision when we run people for state legislature and then for Congress,” Broderick said.
These electoral ambitions have been made possible by DSA and YDSA’s increasing membership amid the rise of Zohran Mamdani in New York City. Following years of steady decline, DSA membership increased from around 50,000 in October 2024 to nearly 130,000 as of July 2026. Similarly, over the past year, the number of YDSA chapters has increased from 100 to 150, and membership from 2,000 to 3,600, according to Almosawi.
...........
“All DSA and YDSA candidates see themselves as a part of a political project, and that’s why they’re also invested in leadership development and identifying ‘who is the person who’s going to replace me,’” Almosawi said. “Your job is to replace yourself.”
One of the best arguments against Flock was made by a resident of Fridley, MN at a recent City Council meeting.
Daniel Hartman speaks at a Fridley, MN City Council Meeting on July 27, 2026. Video clip is by More Perfect Union. Here it is on YouTube: One of the best arguments against Flock you'll watch - More Perfect Union (YouTube)
From the description: Residents of Fridley, MN packed a city council meeting last week where police detailed which law enforcement agencies have access to Flock Safety camera footage. ~:~ Many residents were particularly concerned about news that some of the footage was used for immigration-related searches.
~~~~~~~~~~

I've not been a resident of Fridley for as long as many of you. But like many of you, I came here to build a life, a future with my Family.

It's caused me to think a lot about the future, about the world we will be building for our Children. I want that world to be one where we trust one another. A world where Newcomers to the Community are greeted with open arms and kindness.

Flock is not that. Where we could be spending our money uniting our Community and building it into something for everyone to trust in, we instead send it to unproven Tech Oligarchs to invade and spy on our Communities.

That spying is not without consequence. When the federal Invaders arrived to terrorize our state — in the name of scams, lawlessness, and racism — that very network was used to track and kidnap our Neighbors, as we know.

Our Children will look back on this moment with revulsion. Nauseated by the cowardice that led us to turn our guns inward. Nauseated by the squandering of our natural resources to build the data center and surveillance infrastructure — a monument to fear, voyeurism, and delusion.

We must not forget: This is much bigger than a few cameras spying creepily on Civilians. The surveillance state cannot exist without data centers. Every second these cameras are running, is another second spent sucking the Life out of our Planet.

You keep this up, and we're staring down more than a future without privacy. We are staring down the destruction of our future in entirety.

Does it comfort you to know that when the last drop of water is drained, when the weather gets so hot that your sweat can no longer keep you alive, and when electricity is so expensive that we can no longer afford to cool our homes — there will still be cameras pointing at the People that frighten you?

If my words offend you, remember that I warned you months ago, in this very room. You have had adequate time to change course and be the responsible Adults you were elected to be.

If you cannot see this situation for what it is, then you should not be anywhere near a position of power. We are better than this.

Spend our money on something the Community would actually benefit from. We should be enjoying our parks together and making Friends, not living in fear of one another.

I ask that you disarm these cameras.

US law enforcement gave false information in case against woman charged in anti-ICE protest

Journalist Georgia Fort was one of nearly 40 people charged after interrupting a Minnesota church service.

Aug 6, 2026 by Sam Levine and Rachel Leingang for The Guardian.

Here are the opening paragraphs:

Law enforcement officials provided false information to federal judges as they sought to build a criminal case against the independent journalist Georgia Fort in connection with a January protest, her lawyers said in court filings on Thursday asking that the charges against her be dismissed.

Fort was one of nearly 40 people charged after demonstrators interrupted a service at Cities church in St Paul, Minnesota after they learned an ICE official was a pastor there. Trump administration officials vowed to arrest anyone involved in the protest. Fort and the former CNN anchor Don Lemon were among those charged with conspiring to interfere with the religious rights of parishioners at their house of worship. They both have strongly denied the charges.

In at least 15 applications for search warrants, an investigator with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) said Fort had been chanting with protesters when they entered the church, her lawyers said. The justice department later conceded the claim was false. The error was insignificant, justice department lawyers later argued, because it ultimately didn’t make it into the indictment that they filed.

The errors were among those detailed in three different motions explaining why the criminal case against Fort should be dismissed. The case prosecutors have sought to make against her violates the first amendment, fails to state an actual crime, and is vindictive, her lawyers say.

“The government is punishing Fort for entering a church open to the public (after being invited in, no less) to document a protest, and then filming and disseminating that footage,” her lawyers wrote in one of the filings. “All of the evidence in this case points to the government prosecuting Fort precisely because she is a journalist, and in particular because she engaged in that constitutionally sacred work to amplify a message with which the government vehemently disagrees.”

Here's the accompanying article 👉 thenerdreich.com/why-trump-keeps-talking-about-communism-the-unhumans-playbook

From the video description: Donald Trump and his MAGA party have a desperate new strategy for the 2026 midterm elections: a fake hysteria over "communists" designed to dehumanize Democrats. This strategy comes straight from a 2024 book called "Unhumans." ~:~ What is the "Unhumans" Strategy?The MAGA playbook relies heavily on "Unhumans, a radical text featuring a foreword by Steve Bannon and heavy promotion by JD Vance. The strategy is simple: frame ordinary Democrats as demonic "unhumans" so they no longer deserve basic human rights. Tech-billionaire gurus like Curtis Yarvin have openly admitted that using the word "communist" is just a weaponized slur meant to act as a political "punch." ~:~ Durán exposes the radical text Unhumans, JD Vance's endorsements, and the propaganda technique known as "Accusation in a Mirror." ~:~:~ The Nerd Reich covers Silicon Valley tech's extremist politics, the Dark Enlightenment, The Network State, Elon Musk, et al. Hosted by Gil Durán. Produced by R.R. Robbins
