💜 Volunteer Notes

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Yuca is extremely timid, often cowering in the back of her kennel with her head lowered. On leash she has trembled, frozen, pulled back or thrashed when overwhelmed. At times she has become so frightened during handling that staff needed to stop. But she has also shown that, when she can manage her fear, she is capable of slowly walking on leash with her head low and tail tucked and allowing the leash to be removed.

Their notes paint a picture of two very young, undersocialized puppies who are frightened and overwhelmed by the shelter environment and desperately need experienced rescue placement where they can decompress safely.

🙏 PLEASE HELP SAVE YUCA & BING — AND THEIR SIBLINGS ROOSTER AND FRANKIE. These babies are only 6 months old, and all four siblings have now landed on the euthanasia list together.

Please share, pledge, foster through a rescue, or tag rescues who can help.

🩵🐶 Bashful #A2087893

7/25/2026 Stray | Staffordshire Mix | Male | 1Y 1M | 46.6 lbs | HW Negative

💜 Volunteer Notes:

I’m SO excited to share with everyone this adorable and sweet little boy, Bashful. I love his name, but this handsome guy isn’t bashful at all. Although when I first approached his kennel he stared at me like “are you here for me? Really?” The second he realized I was, he got so excited and started to wag his tail. When I went in his kennel he was very well behaved and just sat patiently for me. He walked beautifully on leash and didn’t react toward any of the dogs in the kennels. He also did amazing meeting another pup - all tails wags, a few kisses, overall just a happy, playful boy. When I knelt down next to him, he gently jumped into my arms and gave me a ton of kisses. I was able to pick him up easily and he continued to give me kisses. Bashful is the sweetest boy and it’s clear all he wants it to be someone’s baby. I hope someone steps up for him

Volunteer Notes 2:

I would like to give a gold star to the staff member that named Bashful. It’s so perfectly endearing and a bit ironic as he isn’t bashful at all! I walked up to his kennel and he was curled up, not expecting me to say hi. He didn’t get up from his bed until I knelt down to his level, then he got up slowly and did a big stretch before wagging his tail vigorously. He said hi to other dogs while we walked out and walked very well. He’s an absolutely wonderful listener - better than any man in your life, guaranteed. He learned sit soooo quickly as he was a bit jumpy when first out of his kennel. He loves to fetch and actually brought it back quite a few times! Please please please watch his videos. Something about him is very endearing and I know he’ll be someone’s best friend.

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Bashful has repeatedly greeted people with a wiggly body, soft eyes and a fast-wagging tail. He is described as friendly and welcoming to people and has even tried to play with other dogs through the fence.

He generally walks nicely on a loose leash and has been gentle with his handlers. One especially sweet note describes Bashful leaning his entire body against a staff member, completely relaxed and wagging his tail, while they cleaned around his eyes.

He has occasionally shown periods of fear, pancaking to the ground, pacing, whining and hesitating to return to his kennel. But once he feels comfortable, the happy, wiggly young dog comes right back out.

🙏 This sweet young boy has been waiting at BARC since July 25. Foster, adopt, rescue or share Bashful. One person saying YES could change everything for him.

🔹 Intake:

7/25/2026: 2 pitbull aggressive dog. Standby officer.

📝 Shelter Notes:

7/29/2026: Bashful was placed in outdoor run as a move adopt in the morning. As I approached he presented a timid body, lowered head, half tucked in tail and darting eyes. Walked on a loose leash heading into south but as we approached his kennel he began to pull back. Had to stand behind him to get him to walk into kennel.

7/30/2026: High pitch whining and vocalizing in kennel, pacing, jumping on kennel door, panting and dilated eyes. Walked on a tight forward leash while occasionally picking from trail of treats.

7/31/2026: Bashful presented a wiggly body, fast wagging tail and would pancake onto the floor when I approached. Once leashed he walked on a loose leash while occasionally pancaking on the floor for a couple of seconds before continuing to walk.

8/1/2026: Approaching the kennel, Bashful was standing in front of the kennel with a wiggling body, soft eyes, ears up, and fast wagging tail. He did a good job of keeping his kennel clean overnight. Bashful was walked on a loose leash and energetic towards me to and from the outside runs. He was curious about some dogs presenting with a fast wagging tail and wiggling body towards them and tried playing with them through the gate. While walking with a volunteer, he was very friendly and welcoming towards anyone that came up to him.

8/2/2026: Bashful was standing in front of the kennel with a wiggling body, soft eyes, ears up, and fast wagging tail.

8/3/2026: Removing from adopt eval due to no behavior. Bashful greeted this morning as he presented loose body, wagging tail and soft closed mouth. Gentle when walking on leash as he followed trail of treats.

8/6/2026: Fast wagging tail, whole body moving. Walked with semi-loose leash slightly ahead of me out to runs and back for AM and PM walks. When cleaning his eye boogers he stood on his hind legs and leaned back against me enjoying it with wagging tail and completely limp as I propped him up.

8/8/2026: Approaching the kennel, Bashful was laying down on their cot and then greeted me at the gate with a wiggling body, soft eyes, ears up, and fast wagging tail. He was walked on a loose leash and friendly towards me to and from the outside runs. While walking with a volunteer, he was very friendly and welcoming towards anyone that came up to him.

8/10/2026: Mr. Bashful came to the room as a new dog. I have noticed he will come up to his kennel door as you are walking by with a wiggling body and fast moving tail, ears up.

8/13/2026: Dog was in front of the kennel and when I leashed him he walked loose leash to his kennel and in the run he roamed around and when bringing him back he walked loose leash to his kennel and lay down.

💜 Volunteer Notes:

Jenna is definitely a cutie pie. She has unique coloring throughout her coat. She’s calm and sweet. When I went to her kennel she was so ready to have some company. I started talking to her and immediately she got excited. I was able to leash her pretty easily. She walked wonderfully on the leash. I got her out to the run and she’s very loving and affectionate. She loves belly rubs. When I had her out in the run I was petting her, and she actually turned around onto her back and basically asked for belly rubs. She’s definitely a good girl and always happy. I think she’s unique looking, and hopefully she can get out of the shelter tomorrow

💜 Volunteer Notes:

Ugh, once you start to see what dogs have more chances than others it truly sucks because guys like Milo, brake my heart.

Milo has been at the shelter for a bit and I understand why. Milo is such a nonchalant king, he was SO good to walk on leash, he is always chillin in his kennel so chill! This guy is such a teddy bear. He’s SOOO sweet, gave me his belly outside while hanging and did it again when I put him back in the kennel!! He was SO easy and that’s why I’m very sad. He’s so good but he’s not a huge fan of dog friends and that’s so understandable!!!

Milo seriously is so easy going and I’m sad that I really like this guy but knowing his chances are so slim, I hope this reaches the perfect home for Milo baby

Volunteer Notes #2:

Milo is a literal teddy bear of a dog 🧸. He is calm and gentle but did still show some playfulness when outside in the run! He would run after the ball, then return jauntily without it 😂. He gives the best hugs and is always open to receiving belly and head rubs. He takes treats so gently and is really just an easy-going boy overall. Milo was wiped out after our outdoor play session and temp tests, but I joined him in his kennel for a bit. He was ready for a nap and let me soothe him to sleep with pets and affirmations 🥰. He met two females and a male dog for temp tests. Milo would likely be happy as an only dog, as he doesn’t seem to seek out or need the company of other pups, but I also think with slow and controlled intros, he may be just fine with the right match of a dog.

I have no doubt that Milo will be a loving, loyal best friend to any person or family willing to give him a chance. He is neutered, heartworm negative, and ready to go!

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Milo is very friendly and wiggly. He loves pets and even enjoys being talked to in baby talk!

He greets staff with a loose or neutral body and wagging tail and is gentle on leash. He walks on a loose leash and pays little attention to other dogs as he passes their kennels and runs.

Milo also keeps his kennel clean and has been observed relaxing calmly on his cot with a plushie.

🙏 Milo is only 2 years old and has shown himself to be a friendly, wiggly, affectionate boy who enjoys pets, treats and simply being close to people. He deserves a home and someone to love—not more days waiting in a shelter.

Please foster, adopt, rescue or share Milo.

Lisa is happy and hoppy and all the things I’d expect of a healthy, young dog! She was v ready to get outside and burn off some energy in the run, and she happily met both a male and female pup. She enjoyed fetching a tennis ball and was selectively treat motivated (she has taste okay 💁🏻‍♀️). After a few minutes of sniffing around the run, she would come over and lean in for pets and affection. She seems to know how to sit for treats and how to fetch. Lisa is only on the list for length of stay, meaning she’s been so well behaved during her stay at BARC. She has so much more life to live and deserves to find a family that recognizes and cherishes that!

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Lisa is only 13 months old. Although she was initially reported to be barking and charging people on the property where she was found, her shelter behavior has been much softer.

Lisa can be timid but accepts pets and treats. She has greeted staff with soft eyes, an open-mouth smile and a low wagging tail. She walks fairly well on leash, keeps her kennel clean and relaxes quietly on her cot.

🙏 At only 13 months old, Lisa has her whole life ahead of her. She has shown that beneath her uncertainty is a sweet young dog who accepts affection and wants to feel safe. Please foster, adopt, rescue or share Lisa before it’s too late.

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Tiger is showing fear and stress in the shelter, with a tense or crouched body, tucked tail, whale eyes, raised hackles, barking and occasional low growling.

But there are also encouraging moments. Tiger has responded to gentle baby talk, followed handlers once leashed and repeatedly walked on a loose leash. At times, he has pressed his body against a handler’s leg while walking, seemingly seeking security. He has also returned to his kennel and allowed his leash to be removed without issue.

🙏 Tiger is only 11 months old. Please don’t let Tiger’s fear become a death sentence before he’s even had his first birthday. Share Tiger with experienced rescues who can give this frightened puppy the safe, structured environment he desperately needs.

🔷 Intake:

Tiger was brought to BARC as a euthanasia request on 8/10/26

8/13/26:

8/15/26:

🩷🐶 Izzy #A2088329

7/28 Euth Request (Owner Surrender) | German Shepherd Mix | Spayed Female | 3 Years | 53.6 lbs | Heartworm High Positive

💜 Volunteer Notes:

We were not able to meet Izzy #A2088329. If you're interested in helping us meet the animals, please message us!

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Izzy has repeatedly shown shelter staff a calm, soft and affectionate side. She often greets handlers with a relaxed body, wiggly tail and soft eyes, is easy to leash, and frequently walks beautifully on a loose leash. Staff have described her as quiet and calm in her kennel, and she has kept her kennel clean overnight.

Izzy has sometimes become frightened and frozen or “pancaked,” needing reassurance or even to be carried to the run.

Away from that kennel stress, Izzy has repeatedly been relaxed, easy to handle and cooperative.

🙏 This sweet beautiful girl has been waiting since July 28, and the stress of shelter life is taking its toll. Please foster, adopt, rescue, share or pledge for Izzy and help get her safe.

📝 Shelter Notes:

8/17/26: Izzy began lunging and forward barking at dogs as they passed by her kennel.

8/16/26: Izzy stood at the front of her kennel with a relaxed body and softly wagging tail. She was leashed easily and walked out readily. She walked well on a loose leash in the run, but became vocal when other dogs passed her kennel after returning, so her kennel was covered.

8/14/26: Izzy stood near her kennel door and exited easily once leashed. She walked on a loose leash, looked outside, and was placed in a run.

8/13/26: Izzy was lying calmly in her kennel and walked loosely on leash once outside. She repeatedly stopped and wanted to pancake, but continued walking with encouragement and returned to her kennel on her bed.

8/12/26: Izzy waited calmly at the front of her kennel with a wiggly tail and soft eyes. She was easy to leash and walked on a loose leash to the runs with an open-mouth smile. She returned without issue.

8/11/26: Izzy was quiet in her kennel and walked on a loose leash to the row, but became tense and froze once outside. Staff had to carry her into a run. She remained mostly stationary while outside but walked back inside without issue.

8/4/26: Izzy greeted staff loosely at her kennel door with a soft open mouth and high wagging tail. She was easy to leash, walked loosely outside and back, and remained very relaxed and quiet in her kennel.

💖 Izzy is a sweet girl who has shown a relaxed, affectionate side with her handlers. She is often easy to leash, walks nicely on a loose leash, and greets people with soft eyes and a wagging tail. At times she becomes overwhelmed outside and has recently shown reactivity toward dogs passing her kennel, but the stressful shelter environment can be incredibly difficult. She needs a patient, understanding home where she can decompress, feel secure, and show who she is away from the constant stimulation of the shelter.

🩺 Medical Notes:

- Heartworm positive.

- Spayed.

- Recently treated with doxycycline for coughing and nasal discharge/upper respiratory infection.

Summary:

Izzy is heartworm positive. On 8/8, she developed hacking and nasal discharge and was diagnosed with suspected CIRD/URI. She was moved to treatment and started on Doxycycline 250 mg once daily for 10 days.

Izzy was spayed on 8/5 and was noted to be in heat at the time of surgery. She has received her core vaccines, rabies vaccine, deworming and Advantage Multi.

Extended to 8/17! Meet Asher, an adorable Staffy Mix at BARC in Houston, TX. He's sweet, playful & well-behaved with excellent notes. He was adopted as a puppy two years ago then recently found as a stray. Let's find him a home.

🆘 Playful HW-, Neutered Boy Astro is on the euthanasia list Saturday, 8/15. There will be no extensions per BARC. 🆘

⏰Astro is BACK at BARC and must have a hold no later than 1pm or he will lose his life.🥺 We need pledges and a local foster for a rescue to help.💰🏡

💜🐶 #A1979632 Astro

11/15/2024 Owner Surrender

11/19/2024 Adoption

7/25/2026 Stray | Staffie Mix | Neutered Male | 1Y 11M |53 lbs | HW NAD/NEG

💜 Volunteer Notes:

Astro was originally adopted from barc as a tiny puppy two years ago and now back as a stray. He has a great temperament - playful, goofy. friendly to people and dogs. He is also potty trained and knows sit. He's got great shelter notes and didnt mind me walking half a dozen dogs past his kennel. Eventually I stopped by with another girl dog to say hi and he politely got up and greeted us both (video in comments). Truly a great dog that needs someone who isnt going to give up on him.

One thing though - he will put your ENTIRE hand in his mouth when taking treats but he is gentle and never hurt me! just very overzealous chomps. Anyone need a tall staffy boy with great dane vibes and a happy go lucky personality, Astro is your guy!

Volunteer Notes #2:

Astro needs a committed foster or adopter to save his life by 1pm on 8/17!

Astro was adopted in late 2024 as just a tiny puppy. Now he’s back and much harder to adopt out. Not because of a behavioral or medical reason but because he’s a full grown, black, pittie mix. He was on Saturday’s euthanasia list but was extended through Monday since he behaves so well in the shelter.

Astro is almost 2 years old, 54 lbs, neutered and heartworm negative. A total package!

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Astro’s notes paint the picture of a sweet, playful and well-mannered young dog. He walks beautifully on a loose leash, knows “sit,” takes treats gently and has frequently been quiet and relaxed in his kennel.

Outside, he has shown an adorable playful side—running along the fence with a neighboring dog and offering play bows.

🙏 Astro already left BARC once as a tiny adopted puppy. He deserves another chance to walk out those doors—this time into a future where he won’t find himself lost and waiting again.

Please foster, adopt, rescue or share Astro.

📝 Shelter Notes:

Dog was in front of the kennel and as i leashed him he walked loose leash to the run and back to the kennel.

Astro lays relaxed on his kennel bed. Once leashed he walks out on a loose leash with a high wagging tail. He remains relaxed in the runs. Once he is back in kennel he is relaxed and sits with command. Takes treats gently from my hand. Keep quiet throughout the day.

8/4/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Astro greets me at kennel door with a loose relaxed body. Easy to leash and walks on a loose leash outside. He was very playful with his neighbor dog running along the fence line offering play bows. Once I walked him back to his kennel he walked in and sat as I unleashed. I offered him a piece of bacon strip and he ate it gently from my hand. I covered his kennel back up to prevent him from stressing out.

8/11/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Astro has been very quiet and relaxed in kennel. Walks very well on a loose leash . This morning he has started to become forward and forward barking as dogs walk by his kennel. He may be getting stressed out. I have made him into adopt eval to monitor his behavior as well as covered his kennel due to him being stressed.

I close the kennel door and she slowly gets up, so I come back and I leash her and she slowly exits the kennel with a trembling body, I baby talk her and try to get her to walk on the leash and she thrashes so I got her to scurry into a clean kennel.

🚨 IN DANGER TODAY — BIG BOY NEEDS IMMEDIATE MEDICAL RESCUE 🚨

🐾 Meet Big Boy

ID #A2087761

8 years old

Male | Weight: 42.8 lbs | Heartworm Negative

Intake Date: July 23, 2026

Status: Rescue only

📉 MEDICAL NOTES:

Big Boy arrived suffering from extreme neglect and one of the worst cases of matting the shelter veterinarian had ever seen. His hair was reportedly 10–12 inches thick in areas and caked with urine and feces. It took three staff members approximately 150 minutes under general anesthesia to shave him down to his skin.

💔 He had severe skin breakdown, discoloration and scarring around his neck consistent with prolonged tension, ulceration and exposure to waste. His tail was raw and bleeding, both ears were heavily infected, and his overgrown nails were curling toward his paw pads.

Big Boy was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection on August 8.

Today his condition is especially concerning: he is lying down and reluctant to get up, hypersalivating, not eating and showing labored breathing. Chest radiographs were taken and reviewed by the veterinarian. He needs to leave today for immediate hospitalization and may require oxygen support. He received supportive care today.

💰 MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Friends of BARC, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to BARC animals, will make a donation toward Big Boy’s medical treatment for a foster or rescue group that has him treated in the greater Houston area. Donations are sent directly to the treating veterinary clinic.

Introducing wiggly Missy, an adorable 6-year-old Staffy Mix at BARC in Houston, TX. She's very friendly, sweet & well-mannered. Euth deadline 8/14

🆘 6 year old Staffordshire Mix girl Missy is on the euthanasia list Friday, 8/14. There will be NO extensions per BARC 🆘

⏰ Missy must have a HOLD no later than 1PM or she will lose her life. 🥺 We need pledges and a local foster or adopter for a rescue to help. 💰🏡

🩷🐶 Missy #A2087832

7/24/2026 Euthanasia Request | Staffordshire Mix | Female | 6Y | 52.6 lbs | HW High Positive

💜 Volunteer Notes:

When walking past the kennels today, I happen to see Missy. I saw that she was a purrferred pet which simply means she may be on the euthanasia list any day. She is so stinkin cute too. I actually just noticed her weight and I wouldn’t have thought that because she’s a little girl. When I took her out, she did pull on them the leash when she was walking, but I think it’s because she was super excited to be out. She is well mannered and she behaved. When told no, she did listen. She took treats gently. She did like going into my bag, but when I told her no she stopped. I think she just smelled the treats that were in there. When walking past other dogs in the kennels, she was fine and when we did the temperament test, she also did great. She actually tolerated a younger dog, jumping all in her face and she didn’t do anything at all just kept wagging her tail. She’s definitely a cutie patootie and I think that it would be fantastic if she would get out of the shelter. I know with her being 6 years old and heart-worm positive It’s a lot to ask, but I’m hoping somebody will take the chance on her.

🐾 Behavior Notes:

Missy was initially timid and trembling during her intake exam but still tolerated her skin scrape and having her teeth checked.

Since then, staff have repeatedly seen a sweet, wiggly girl with a fast-wagging tail. She greets staff at the front of her kennel, is easy to leash, enjoys going outside and does very well in the runs. She patiently waits for treats and settles comfortably on her bedding afterward.

🙏 Missy has already spent weeks waiting at the shelter. This wiggly, tail-wagging girl deserves someone who sees the loving dog standing in front of them.

Please foster, adopt, rescue, share or pledge for Missy. One person saying “yes” could be the reason she gets to walk out of BARC alive.

🔹 Intake:

Euthanasia Request

📝 Shelter Notes:

8/10/2026: Missy becomes very wiggly with a fast wagging tail upon approach. She does stand and patiently await for me to offer her a treat. She takes it and goes to eat on bedding.

8/8/2026: Missy will greet at the front of the kennel as she presents wiggly body, wagging tail and soft close mouth. Remains calm and quiet in kennel.

8/4/2026: Missy is wiggly at the front of the kennel door. Easy to leash and she walks out on a wiggly leash with a fast wagging tail. She does very well in the outside runs. Once back in kennel she relaxes on bedding.

7/31/2026: Dog greets me with a wagging tail and when I leashed him he walks semi tight leash to the run and when I coming back he walks in with tail held high.

7/24/2026: Walked in, ears back but started wagging tail while scanning her back for a microchip. A bit timid, trembling with male vet tech but tolerated getting skin scrape and teeth checked, just shaking.

🚑 Medical Notes:

7/24/2026: Weighed 52.6 lbs. Intact female. General dermatology: FAD, no further treatment needed; Advantage Multi applied at intake. Skin scrape NSF. Vaccinated with DA2PP-V, Bordetella and Rabies, dewormed, and given flea prevention. Heartworm test: High Positive.

Bio

The last slide's photos are from April 2025 when he was rescued from a shelter (after six months) by Fur Kids Atlanta.

A foster-to-adopt option is available for me, giving us the chance to get to know each other before making it official!

Meet Hopper - Your Ultimate Adventure Buddy, Champion Walker & All-Around Good Boy! Hopper is a handsome, athletic, toy-loving dog with energy to spare and a heart overflowing with affection. This ball-chasing superstar brings enthusiasm, charm, and a whole lot of personality to every moment. Whether he's sprinting after toys or showing off his goofy side, Hopper makes life brighter. Smart and highly treat-motivated, Hopper already knows a solid "lay down" and is eager to learn more. He'll benefit from continued training to help curb his excited jumping, but with consistency (and snacks!) he's a quick study. And when it comes to leash manners, Hopper is a standout--he's the easiest dog to walk and a total joy to take out and about. After adventures, Hopper is just as happy to relax as your co-pilot on car rides or unwind at home right by your side. He's gentle, affectionate, gives the best kisses, and loves spending time with people. Hopper will need to be the only dog in the home, but with a dog as wonderful as he is, he's truly all you'll ever need.

He has been neutered, is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, and is microchipped. If you'd like to learn more about Hopper, please complete a survey at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to share more information and arrange a meet-and-greet. You must be at least 21 ears old to adopt.

Volunteer Notes:

"I walked Hopper tonight and he didn’t tell me about the big day he had today. Hopper is hands down my favorite. He is a true gentleman when we walk and he knows our special routine is to stop at a bench so I can give him the love he deserves (and craves) and he always reciprocates with lots of loving kisses. He is such a sweetheart and such a good boy. He is going to be the happiest, best boy in a home."

"FURKIDS VOLUNTEER HERE 👋🏼 I LOVE Hopper!!! This sweet boy just looooooves his people. He's affectionate and just wants all the snuggles. He's the best adventure buddy and is wonderful walking on the leash. PRAYING HE FINDS HIS FOREVER FAMILY! We're cheering for you, Hopper!"

"Hopper is the BEST!! I have had the pleasure of walking him many times and can't believe he's still at the shelter ❤️"

"He is such a good boy who loves to give kisses. And so very patient waiting for his home."

"If you had the opportunity to call yourself 10 years ago but only had 60 seconds to talk... what would you say?"

Re-post from Instagram.

When I saw this today, I couldn't help but shake my head. I know it's not meant to be that deep, but damn - it really resonated with me.

I got sick 14 years ago during my freshman year of college/university. I pushed through for the first four years since I had no idea what was wrong with me and had never even heard of ME/CFS or PEM.

The last decade has been torture. My life as I knew it ended. As I'm sure you can relate, I lost everything overnight. People didn't understand so friends, family & relationships disappeared. I had to stop working, driving, shopping, cooking, doing laundry, etc. I can't take care of myself without assistance. Even something seemingly simple, like listening to music, makes me crash.

So what would I tell myself? I don't even know. It seems impossible to remember a time when this wasn't my reality. It's like I'm stuck on a hamster wheel that's barely moving. It's the same thing every day, but without energy to make it through the day.

There was a quote from Jen Brea's movie that really stuck with me years ago. I'm paraphrasing her, but she said having ME is like going missing, except no one is looking for you, because they didn't even realize you're gone.

RESCUE ONLY

💜🐶 #A2089191 Peliche

8/9 Euth Req | Staffie Mix | Male | 1Y | 60lbs | HW-

Behavior Notes:

With people, Peliche has repeatedly been described as very friendly and sweet. He accepts petting, takes treats by hand, walks beside staff, licks their hands and even rubs his body against their legs for affection. Staff can enter his kennel and interact with him easily.

Around other dogs he may become focused, pull/lunge, bark or growl.

🙏 Peliche is only 12 months old. With people, there’s clearly an affectionate young dog who wants connection—he just needs someone experienced enough to safely manage his reactivity and help him succeed.

📝 Shelter Notes: Behavior (dog reactive, pacing, panting, dilated eyes, forward barking, growling towards other dogs passing by kennel, friendly with people, pulls on leash towards other dogs, jumping/slamming against fence in outside runs towards other dogs) pacing, panting, dilated eyes, and vocalizing during am feeding and cleaning. once leashed walked on a forward leash while ignoring trail of treats. once back inside he began to forward bark and growl towards other dogs passing by.

8/12/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Very friendly towards people but is very dog reactive. When approaching his kennel he was standing on hind legs, vocalizing and wagging tail. I easily leashed him and he started to jump on me very excited. I baby talked and pet him and he responded very well. However when stepping outside dog immediately started to pull towards another dog and was very focused on it. I placed him in the run and dog was fine until I left him in place and went to grab another dog. When walking pass him with another dog, peliche started to whine/vocalize, and jump/slam himself against the fence. When bringing him back inside he was focused on the dogs in the kennel but I was able to redirect him with baby talk. Before putting him in I petted him and he began to rub his body against my legs. He began to lick my hands and was very sweet before putting him in. Throughout the day im able to enter kennel and he is very friendly.

8/11/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Dog's reaction, barking, growling, piloerection, showing teeth but very easy leash him up, takes treats from my hand, accept caresses, walks beside me licking my hands. potty in the outside runs.

8/9/2026 BEHAVIOR light muzzled needed it to be carried to kennel...

8/9/2026 BEHAVIOR Lunging at the kennel door when dogs walk past. Growling barking, and slamming against the door.
