💔 Her barking and scratching in the kennel are signs of shelter stress—not who she is. Outside her kennel, Jazz shines as a happy, loving dog who just wants a chance.

Nena is a 5 year old female Bulldog that is available for adoption at the Queens Animal Shelter in Queens, New York. You can contact the shelter by phone or email. They are open from 12-6pm and their address is 323 East 109th Street, New York, NY 10029. Their phone number is 212-788-4000.

Nena is a friendly, calm girl that has lived with a family for two years.Unfortunately, she is medically sensitive due to a tail tumor. She I'll most likely need the tail amputated.

Her Facebook post says that she is eligible for rescue by A New Hope Rescue Partner. I'm not sure what that means since I don't work at the shelter. The post also says that her adoption may qualify for a $1000 stipend.

7/19/2026: Sasuke stood at the front of the kennel with a neutral body, furrowed brows, ears up, and low tucked tail. He allowed leashing and walked outside on a loose leash. He remained timid but allowed gentle petting after being returned to his kennel. Later that afternoon he sought additional affection by nudging the handler's hand to continue petting.

7/21/2026: Sasuke stood at the front of his kennel with a neutral body, furrowed brows, ears up, and a low tucked tail. He tried to walk out slowly and walked timidly outside. He kept his kennel clean overnight, walked on a loose leash to and from the runs, and paid little attention to other dogs.

7/22/2026: Sasuke was calm and quiet during morning feeding and cleaning. As I approached, he presented with a relaxed body, low slow wagging tail, and soft open mouth. He walked on a loose leash to and from the south runs. While in the outdoor kennel he began biting and pulling at the fencing trying to escape, so he was brought back inside until his kennel was ready.

7/23/2026: Sasuke greeted me at his kennel door with a neutral body, soft open mouth with a loose tongue, and a low, slow swaying tail. Once leashed, he walked on a loose leash. Staff noted he had tried to dig out of the outdoor kennel the previous day but otherwise walked calmly.

7/12/2026: Weighed 81.0 lbs. Normal intake exam. Received DA2PP-V vaccination.

7/14/2026: Weighed 81.0 lbs. Heartworm Positive (Low). Hair loss noted on the left forehead and muzzle. Exam found two small areas of alopecia without crusting or redness. No additional treatment recommended at this time. Vaccinated (Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and given Pyrantel and Advantage Multi. Dog was noted to be apparently neutered.

7/15/2026: Skin scrape performed; skin scrape negative.

7/16/2026: When approaching the kennel she had a wiggly body and jumped at the kennel door. While trying to leash her she kept moving her head around as she jumped. She walked on a tight leash due to pulling.

7/6/2026: Very wiggly.

7/13/2026: Mongoose was a Move Adopt and walked on a semi-loose leash with slight forward pulling. He was energetic and friendly, allowed petting, became briefly aroused in his kennel, then quickly settled and sat at the kennel gate with a forward body, dilated eyes, ears up, and fast wagging tail.

7/14/2026: Mongoose stood by his kennel door with a wiggly body and wagging tail. He briefly stood against the kennel door, then sat to be leashed. Because of the rain he walked under the covered area on a semi-pulling leash and occasionally became jumpy outside.

7/17/2026: Mongoose presented with a very wiggly body, high fast wagging tail, and soft open mouth with his tongue out. Once leashed, he walked on a semi-forward leash while occasionally jumping on the handler. Outside, he began to thrash and alligator roll on the leash while yelping, but after a few seconds he calmed down and continued walking without issues.

7/19/2026: Approaching the kennel, Mongoose greeted me with a wiggly body, ears up, open-mouth smile, high fast wagging tail, and dilated eyes. He walked on a semi-loose leash with slight forward pulling, paid little attention to other dogs, and remained energetic despite treat redirection.

7/20/2026: Mongoose greeted me at the gate with a wiggling body, ears up, open-mouth smile, high fast wagging tail, and dilated eyes. He walked on a semi-loose leash but pulled forward slightly. He paid little attention to other dogs and was jumpy and energetic, with treats offering little redirection.

7/21/2026: During morning walks and feedings, Mongoose paced in his kennel and occasionally jumped on the kennel walls. He greeted me with a wiggly body, ears up, open-mouth smile, tongue out, high fast wagging tail, and dilated eyes. He walked on a loose leash, was energetic to and from the outside runs, paid little attention to other dogs, and happily took a pig ear back to his cot.

7/22/2026: Mongoose greeted me by his kennel door with a relaxed body, high fast wagging tail, and soft open mouth. Once leashed he walked on a loose leash with a wiggly body and would occasionally jump around and on me, but was easily redirected with treats.

Came to the shelter as a stray on 06/27/26

Medical Issues:
Severe weight loss since intake to shelter. URI - largely improved, but not resolved.  Ongoing underweight status despite broad-spectrum deworming and extra feedings.  Poor appetite, quiet temperament.

Very sweet and calm dog - please help him!  Needs further diagnostics and treatment beyond shelter capacity!

Prior to being moved to medical he was a regular in playgroup - he's tolerant of other dogs and mainly mingles. With volunteers he was shy but enjoyed gentle pets - not super food motivated - he enjoyed sniffing more than walking.

7/21/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE tense in kennel, whale eyes, was able to leash dog walked with a tense body, lowered head, hackles. Used long leash and walked him to the next kennel. Tense, avoiding the leash orginally, didnt take treats, eyes dilated, ears alert. Mouth was also tightly shut.

Dog greeted me at the front of the kennel with a tense body, hard stare, and dialated eyes. When I opened the kennel dog immediately backed into the wall. Easily leashed, but dog walked very forward and tense to the runs. Had to have help from another ACT to get dog from the runs, as dog was avoiding me. Easily placed in kennel, but snappy when attempting to remove the leash.

Missy isn’t acting out—she’s terrified. Shelter notes describe a timid young dog with worried eyes, a tucked tail, and a trembling body. She often has to be carried because she’s too frightened to walk on leash. Even so, staff describe her as sweet, friendly, and submissive.
💔 Imagine being just a puppy yourself, lost in a loud shelter, too scared to understand what’s happening around you.
Missy doesn’t need punishment for being afraid. She needs patience, safety, and someone willing to show her that people can be kind.

This resilient little girl is already eating gruel completely on her own, making mealtime a breeze. She does have some hair loss and suspected ringworm, but she has already started her medication to help her recover. Lady just needs a cozy, dedicated foster space to rest, heal, and flourish until she is old and healthy enough to find an adopter.

7/19/2026: Pulled strongly on leash while walking. In the runs he barked and whined whenever another dog passed. Also whined in his kennel, so staff planned to cover the kennel briefly to help him settle.
7/20/2026: Quiet in his kennel and kept it spotless overnight. During cleaning he rested curled up on his Kuranda bed. Walked to the runs with a wagging tail on a loose leash. In the run he cried, pawed at the gate, and bit at the fence when left alone, but immediately settled once he saw the handler return. Walked calmly back inside and curled up on his bed.
7/21/2026: Brick greeted the handler with a soft face, sat on his bed, and was easily leashed. He was vocal a few times toward a dog passing his kennel. He walked outside on a loose leash with a neutral body, then returned inside more excited, rearing up and wagging his tail.
🚑 Medical Notes:
7/9/2026: Weighed 52.0 lbs. Heartworm Positive. Healing scars noted around the face and neck; no treatment required at intake. Intact male. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and flea prevention administered.
