I work at a bookstore down the street from a GameStop. I saw an ambulance and cop cars there yesterday, and it’s made me think: what horror story could have led to that? Tell me the worst thing to happen to you on the clock.

It does not matter how shitty a show’s early seasons are, it should be watched from the beginning

Watching a show from its mid or end point and working ones’ way through non-chronologically defeats the purpose of the show. It is worth sitting through a few bad episodes to see it develop as it finds its footing.

My job’s Pop Mart section

I hate these things. $20 or more plastic figures that are a few inches tall and meant to collect dust. And as you can probably tell, we’re saturated with them. The sad part is that the supply meets the demand.

I beat Replicant ending E tonight

So sad we couldn’t get to see Nier’s Phoenix Spear between his legs when he pops out of the lunar tear 😞

In all seriousness this is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Like My GOD. 10/10 masterpiece

TIL that The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was so poorly optimized for the original Xbox that the system’s 64MB of RAM would be completely reset upon each loading screen. According to Todd Howard: “When Morrowind loads…that’s us rebooting the Xbox. That was like a Hail Mary.”

Nee-Doh Hate Thread

Loathing. The only word to describe my feelings toward these things.

Every ten minutes, we get calls about these things. People are sleeping in their cars overnight in our parking lot to get them.

I have seen fights and arrests over them.

We once had a guy requesting to hold 20 at a time claiming they were for his daughter’s softball team. Nope. He was selling them for $40 a pop on Facebook Marketplace.

I wish every single one of these things would burn up all at once and we’d all forget they existed.

18 years old, $12,500 in mutual funds 💪

I’m so proud of myself for this. I’m a lifelong saver and overjoyed to have my money finally working for me instead of just sitting in my bank account accruing meager interest. I made $150 on the stock market today alone! :)

I hope this is a good start. I want to eventually own a house, which I think is possible considering I’m on a full-ride scholarship and live at home. In ten years, who knows? Maybe l’ll have enough for my down payment.

Am I in a good position for someone my age?

I beat the game today.

I am literally in tears.

I don’t know what I expected. Shooters have never been my thing. But my God. This game is a work of art. A 10/10 experience I’m stunned I didn’t play sooner.

Just…shit. I don’t know what to do now. This is one of the best stories I’ve ever experienced with characters and gameplay that have changed how I play games.

There will never be another game like this, and that’s a good thing.

Beat the game today

I’m not usually a precision platformer player. I grew up on Mario but eventually switched to RPGs and shooters. But damn. God damn. The ending had me misty-eyed.

After 3,000 deaths and 69 strawberries, I can say yeah, it’s as good as everyone says. A genuine work of art that everyone should play at least once in their life.

TIL that "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" was supposed to be canceled after Season 1 due to low ratings but was saved because of Danny DeVito. Creator Rob McElhenney went to DeVito's house to pitch the idea only to learn he and his family were massive fans, and he signed on fifteen minutes later.

Mythical pulls from my rural Southern United States thrift store

My thrift store luck is bad. Really bad. In my part of the United States, it’s mostly Amy Grant, Kenny G, Celine Dion, Hootie and the Blowfish, etc. I went thrifting on a whim today and got three masterpieces for a dollar each. Still kind of in shock.

I got the discs polished for free, too. All the booklets are intact, and they play back perfectly. Ray of Light is an original release, and Pet Sounds includes the bonus track “Hang On To Your Ego.”

All in all, best luck I’ve gotten so far in my 6 months of collecting. Diamonds can be found in the rough :)

TIL about the Ig Nobels, where scientists are honored for research deemed "improbable," such as making frogs float. If acceptances are more than a minute, an 8-year-old girl, 'Miss Sweetie Poo,' shouts "Please stop, I’m bored" until they leave. Winners get $10T in Zimbabwe dollars (worth $0.04 USD).
