O Auto Da Compadecida deserves a release from Criterion
This movie is absolutely incredible. Super funny, earnest, and it has some of the most bonkers fantasy sequences I’ve ever seen. Its depiction of life and the meaning thereof is nothing short of beautiful. It’s also an absurdist comedy that never fails to make me laugh. It’s one of the best Brazilian movies ever, and one of the best films period. It’s a genuine masterpiece.
