I feel like i’m a boring person

I’m 18F and i’ve never been in a relationship and I don’t watch many movies and shows. I feel like i’m so basic and boring sometimes. I can be funny and crack jokes, talk about fashion but that’s all I have. Even my younger sister has relationship lore.

Truth is I don’t want to be in a relationship rn and also no I don’t care for watching most movies and shows. Only some media really grabs my interest

Am I too boring? Do I need to change? Or am I okay the way I am??

I can’t stop villainizing myself

Every single time my dynamic with someone goes wrong I always find a way to blame myself even if it had nothing to do with me. I’ve had friends told me “don’t worry if that person has something against you it’s not your fault” and my friends always have stood by my side and defended me.

But I still feel like why me? What did I do wrong and why do they pick and choose and favor my friends over me? Why am I catching strays from people i’ve never had major conflicts with?

And it makes me wonder if it’s my fault, it HAS to be, I analyze myself so much, i’ve tried to figure out every possible thing wrong with me. My family and friends tell me that it’s not my fault and that i’m a good person, but I feel like they could be lying and I actually have a personality trait that I guess pisses people right off the bat that I can’t figure out yet

Why do some people just hate your gut?

So I just graduated senior year back in may and there was this one class this year where I barely knew anyone. We had to do partner activities and there was just me and this one dude left who didn’t talk to many people in the class so we partnered with each other. At first it seemed fine… he was still very quiet but like it was okay. But then gradually it was like he was just REALLY trying to do anything to be partners with anyone but me, mind you the other people had partners

One day finally he just flat out refused to partner with me on a required class activity it was ridiculous, like not even any professionalism

Haven’t talked to him since but today morning I guess my thoughts unfortunately won me and I wrote him a simple apology message on insta saying sorry if we ever had any bad blood just to see if i’d get some sort of answer

Stupid idea, he blocked me. I honestly guess I need to respect people’s spaces. I just let my overthinking win over me because I never understood why he had such a grudge against me when i’ve just treated him as regularly as any other person.

I don’t think he thought I was hitting on him I hope not, he’s a gay guy and i’m a straight girl who doesn’t even want a partner rn

It’s fine I wouldn’t bother again if he unblocked me but I just want to know why some people do this?

How are other people so likeable?

I feel like i’ve had this issue my whole life, i’ve always been the kid that’s “not everyone’s taste” like mint chocolate chip ice cream. I don’t understand why tbh, i’m nice, I can talk to people…

Yes I do think i’m a naturally loud person but even then when I first meet someone i’m very aware of my voice levels and I always make sure to be engaging but not do too much

As a kid I came to the conclusion that it was racism because I was Indian in a predominantly non asian school and that’s why they didn’t show interest in being my friend

As I got older I feel like I also received this sort of exclusion even from other brown girls like myself when I went to a predominantly asian school.

It is true though that still i’ve always had friends my whole life. But it’s also interesting because the few friends I have love me, they tell me that they genuinely cannot think one bad thing about me and when I’m not at a hangout they think about me

I’m grateful to have people like that in my life but the pattern is that they were all people who came to ME first

No one that I ever approach shows interest in knowing me. They subtly start ignoring me and treat me like i’ve invaded their privacy by talking to them

Why is this??

Is taking choir and orchestra a bad idea in college if music isn’t my major?

So I will be starting college at the end of this month. I am planning on going into dental and i’m taking a Biology major. At first I wanted to do choir and orchestra but i’m starting to think I should just do choir. I’ve been an orchestra student for over 6 years so I do have a lot more experience in orchestra than choir but I’m feeling more passionate about learning singing.

Will taking both choir and orchestra be an inconvenience since i’m only planning on minoring in music? If I did take both is it better earlier or later in college?

Middle school phase of talking really formally

Did anyone else have a phase in middle school where they would talk really formally with precise grammar to seem more interesting?

I feel like this can’t just be me 😭

2026 is the first year where i’m really processing how long ago 2020 was

I feel like the beginning of the 2020s felt like such a blur and covid definitely made us all feel like time was going by so fast. This year, it’s finally starting to hit me how long ago covid was. Thinking of my life back then, things really were so different, I was a kid in 6th grade and now I will be a college student. Also there’s been a lot of societal shifts now that were quite different from the early 2020s and now I feel like the early and mid 2020s are pretty distinct. 2025 was when Ai usage was becoming more rapid and now it’s more than halfway through 2026 and we’re realizing that this new technology is now apart of our society causing many controversies. Also if you’re American, the outcomes of before and after the 2024 election are becoming very noticeable. Gen alpha is also starting to make a more noticeable appearance on the internet now, the oldests are 13 as of this year. While gen z is still the dominant culture, early gen alphas are becoming the consumers and demographic for a lot of media now and younger gen z’s are also becoming in charge of more major trends when before it was more of core gen z and older.

Thinking of life before covid now… wow that was a completely different world, I almost can’t even believe it was real, that timeline just feels like a figment of my imagination now.

TIFU: I feel bad about how I behaved at my friend’s house

So last night me and my friend decided to have a sleepover drunk and I’m 18 and this is genuinely the first time i’ve ever drank. She’s drank many times before. I really wanted to get blackout drunk and know how that felt but my friend was very paranoid about getting caught and I guess her plan was to not get blackout. I didn’t know. We never communicated any of that. I just thought we’d try to finish all we had.

So we did both end up getting pretty drunk and then my friend suddenly told me to stop so that she could get to my level of drunk. She was also getting really sleepy and she tried to make me sleep too but I wanted to be up for longer and I wanted to keep going because I didn’t want to waste the rest of my drink plus I wanted to get blacked out. I had it in a water bottle and she took the water bottle away from me and I kept trying to get it back and then she was getting annoyed because she just wanted to sleep but I really wanted to get blacked out once before college

She had gotten blacked out before and has been to many parties so tbh I guess I was a bit jealous of her. They threw many parties in her school, my school never really had much big partying going on and I also never really thought about getting drunk up until recently. But now since I had the chance I was bummed out that we didn’t get blacked out because I don’t think i’ll ever put myself in that situation in college parties and that was my reason

I feel bad how I behaved at her house though, I should’ve been more understanding

TL;DR I was being pushy because I wanted to experience blackout and I feel bad

I feel like i’m not good enough to have friends

Every single social interaction I feel so abnormal, I have way too much energy than the average person and I get way too excited to meet people

I don’t think people hate me but they don’t love me, everyone always forgets about me and I never get invited anywhere. The few times I do get invited I take those opportunities so gratefully like I actually thank God that I get those opportunities because I feel lonely more than I feel with company

But the truth is that I don’t think i’m built for friends, everyone else is so effortlessly social and I feel likeI have to force myself so much just to gain hopefully one friend

Does Kylie Jenner cater more towards the gen z or millennial generation?

Kylie Jenner was born in 1997 which is considered the start of gen z but her other siblings were born between the end of gen x to the end of millennials. Kylie Jenner has been influencing for over a decade when millennial culture was still more dominant but now her appeal seems to have shifted more towards gen z. I want to know what millennials and other gen z think about this.

2024 shaped 2026 fashion?

I feel like the aesthetic of the mid 2020s is “whimsey”. 2026 was definitely when the term started being used more but i’d say it started back in 2024. The whimsey era is basically like a rebrand of certain 2000s and early 2010s aesthetics encouraging the old trend of “colorful clothing combos” to come back

Regret about not having independence early enough

I turned 18 back in January and I graduated in May, I only got my license back in like April. My parents were really strict about driving around though so I didn’t really end up rebelling and proving to the them my driving skills until my mom went to travel for a few weeks in June. Now i’m finally an independent driver and my parents trust me but seeing how much freedom I have now makes me realize how much I missed on experiencing this independence in high school

What do you mean people had this level of independence and freedom to go wherever by the age of 16?

I wasn’t able to do so early because I do struggled academically a bit and my parents wanted me to prioritize my studies

Are there any other people that only started driving after hs? I wanna know if anyone else ever had this feeling 🥲

I would’ve been such a good 2019 teenager

One thing I really miss about pre covid to be honest is when it was socially acceptable to be quirky and have corny humor. Sure now looking back some of the trends back then were kinda cringe but people were honest. Relatable humor, dark humor, it was all about keeping it real

Am I the only one that thinks the show got better after Starlight?

I feel like Starlight as a character just added such an interesting plot line and character to analyze. I will say I do wish we had a stronger backstory for her but other than that the way she develops as a character throughout was so interesting and cool to see. Also I just love how she’s sarcastic, her vibe doesn’t exactly meet “main character hero” energy and her personality is also realistic and can be kinda relatable

I asked my closest friend for the reason as to why people don’t reciprocate talking to me

So this is an interesting one, I don’t know if everyone will relate to this but I asked one of my closest friends that i’ve known for 12 years what might be the reason people don’t reciprocate talking to me. I always felt like it was a me thing, maybe I talk a lot and all but the thing is compared to other people honestly I don’t talk like a crazy lot amount

But regardless talking doesn’t matter

How optimistic and enthusiastic you are to meet a new friend is what matters

I tend to usually give up on a social dynamic pretty early if I feel a little embarrassed. Sometimes I go in with the impression that the other person won’t like me and I’ll worry about how they’ll perceive me instead of how I will perceive them.

This put me into a new lens, focusing on how you’re perceiving the other person instead of thinking about how you’re being perceived. It introduces them how you are going to act towards that other person rather than focusing the energy onto yourself. That just makes people assume all sorts of things about you if YOU aren’t introducing YOURSELF
