Putting up yard signs by paying homeowners.

Hello everyone,

I had a question in terms of the legality of an enterprise I am planning to start. Would it be possible to pay homeowners to advertise local businesses by placing lawn signs on their properties.

Thanks.

Small Artist Highlight: Mac DeMarco, Regurgitator, Karnivool

Picture 1: Mac DeMarco

Mac DeMarco is one of the defining figures of 2010s indie rock, but calling him just another indie musician misses what makes him special. He built his reputation almost entirely on his own terms: writing, recording, producing, and often playing nearly every instrument himself. His music blends slacker rock, soft psychedelia, jangly guitar pop, and mellow folk into something that's instantly recognizable. DeMarco jokingly calls it "jizz jazz," but behind the self-deprecating humor is an incredible songwriter with an ear for warm melodies and sophisticated guitar work.

Starting album recommendation: Salad Days

Picture 2: Regurgitator

Regurgitator are one of Australia's most inventive alternative bands, refusing to stay in one genre for more than a few songs. Across their career they've blended alternative rock, punk, hip-hop, electronic music, pop, surf rock, and even techno into a sound that's unmistakably their own. While many bands spend their careers refining one formula, Regurgitator built their reputation on constantly reinventing themselves, often with a weird sense of humor and lyrics that balance comedy with surprisingly sharp social commentary.

Starting album recommendation: Unit

Picture 3: Karnivool

Karnivool are widely regarded as one of the greatest progressive rock and metal bands to come out of Australia. While early comparisons to Tool followed them throughout their career, the band quickly evolved into something far more distinctive, combining intricate rhythms, soaring vocal melodies, massive guitar textures, and emotional songwriting into a sound that's unique and their own. Karnivool focus on the atmosphere and dynamics, creating songs that reward repeated listens without sacrificing memorable hooks.

Starting album recommendation: Sound Awake

Can Music Be Great Without a Human Creator?

Imagine a machine that can generate the greatest piece of music you've ever heard.

Not "good for AI music." I mean genuinely the most beautiful, profound piece of music you've ever heard.

Now imagine you listen to it for years independent of context, and consider it a masterpiece. Then one day you learn it wasn't written by a human at all—it was generated instantly by the machine.

Should that change how valuable it is?

If not, then music is ultimately just the sounds themselves.

If it does, then perhaps music is more than notes and the sound. Perhaps part of what we value is the human story behind the work: the struggles, intentions, experiences, history and life of the creator.

In other words, is Beethoven's music great because of the notes, or because a human being named Beethoven wrote them?

Curious what people think.

Making a game where players guess the country by listening to the song. What are your best Irish songs?

Need songs that you are proud to showcase to other countries and that show your unique style of music, language, and the history of Ireland. Thank you all.

PS: Already added "Zombie" by The Cranberries but that's all I know.

I am making a game where players need to guess the country and date of a song by listening to it. Give me your best Australian songs to include.

PS: I already added Down Under by Men at Work. Loved it.

EDIT: Thank you everyone for the song suggestions. These are songs that would have taken me a long time to curate and find on my own.
