How accurate are the subtitles for Magnolia Pictures’ The Last Circus?

I remember years ago for an earlier release someone was saying the English subtitles were poor/dumbed down. I haven’t heard anyone else say this although Magnolia did have controversies with Let the Right One In when it first came out.

I guess people weren't interested in the Dark Sky's 50th anniversary 'Chainsaw' set

Dark Sky's 50th anniversary set came out almost two years ago and it's still available to buy at almost a third of the original price. In comparison Second Sight's limited is long OOP.

I do think that having a large plastic oversized chainsaw was completely unnecessary, a nice slipcase with the VHS and maybe a book like SS did would have been more appealing to me.

New French Extremity-Stylized "PENITENTS" Will Tear Your Heart Out

Old article but wonder if anyone else is looking forward to this. I’m a big fan of the New French Extremity and Frontier(s) is one of my favorite horror films which the author lists as an inspiration.

Really baffled at Jacob and Hunter’s treatment this season

Two episodes left and they’ve barely done anything this season. Cherry has had more screentime. Nate at least felt like he had some substantial scenes early on going somewhere but after the wedding episode nothing has progressed In his arc. Jacob is an Oscar nominee and Hunter is a rising star so I really don’t understand the reasoning here and why they’ve been reduced to minor supporting roles.

[ALL] DE’s level designer answers if Chloe’s return was planned

Since it’s still discussed whether or not it was the plan all along for Reunion to happen:

https://youtu.be/h06xdXl9Jis

It‘s a podcast with DE’s level designer Baqir Shah. He talks about it about an hour and six minutes in. He says that Chloe’s return was a response to the backlash from the fans with DE.

He also says at an hour and sixteen minutes in that in DE they didn’t want to write her out completely so they kept the door open as a chance for her to return.

So I think this confirms that there was never a planned storyline with Reunion ahead of time. The best you can say is they were open to her coming back at some point in the future.

[ALL] Was there any significant backlash over LIS2 and TC not being Max/Chloe sequels?

Someone else suggested that a lot people were complaining that LiS2 and True Colors weren’t about Max and Chloe. Is there any truth to this? I assumed that prior to DE most people accepted their story was done.

I also got the impression that while reactions to LiS2 were mixed it was for other reasons and that the response to TC were generally favorable and people liked Alex and Steph?

[ALL] DE’s storylines and Reunion

I’m not complaining at all but it is kind of funny that they effectively abandoned 80% of what DE was trying to set up at the ending. Max telling everyone about her powers, Safi seeking out people with powers and the post credits scene with Diamond.

I did think the amnesia bit was a cop out, they could have done more there with people knowing. I don’t miss Safi’s superhero team or whatever they were trying to do there, though. I wonder why Diamond was written out, I kept on thinking there was going to be a reveal but it turns out that from an optional phone call that she just left.

I remember some suggesting before that Chloe‘s return was planned all along and it’s pretty obvious that it wasn’t. But i‘m happy they did what they did as opposed to doubling down with their original ideas.

Penance by Eliza Clark

This isn’t straight up horror but it was recommended as a ‘found footage’ book by a horror blogger and I think it’s adjacent enough to appeal to readers. It’s presented as a true crime book about the murder of a teenage girl by her peers as written by a sleazy journalist. It also touches on topics such as serial killer fandoms, ghost stories and ‘creepypastas’. I think if you’re a fan of stuff like ‘Yellowjackets’ you’ll enjoy it. It also reminded me a bit of ‘Jawbone’ by Mónica Ojeda to an extent.

What if Walt Jr actually worked at Los Pollos Hermanos?

I remember Gus offered him a job there. I wonder if Walt Jr actually took him up on it how Walter would react, if he would assume Gus was plotting something or trying to get to his family.
