The 1964 taxi prototype was restored in Moscow for the local museum

The Moscow Transport Museum has completed the restoration of a unique, experimental 1964 VNIITE-PT taxi, the only one of its kind, designed by Yuri Dolmatovsky.

The car featured a railcar-style layout, an electric side door, and a 1.4-liter engine from the “Moskvich-408,” mounted in the rear.

Despite its compact size, the interior could accommodate up to four passengers and offered excellent visibility thanks to its large glass area.

In the mid-1960s, the prototype was tested at a Moscow taxi fleet, where passengers gave it positive reviews; however, the car never went into mass production.

The only surviving example has now been restored and will become part of the permanent exhibition at the Moscow Transport Museum.
