This tattoo on Ink Master. There are flowers that grow like this, but this just looks diseased. And it's on her butt!

I had to take a photo with my phone because the app does not allow screen grabs of their content 🙄 so please forgive the photo of a screen

I cropped out her butt cheeks so I didn't have to make it NSFW and so there wouldn't be commentary about it

Blood Quantums vs DNA Test Results

I was directed here by r/NativeAmerican so I hope this is appropriate

Apologies in advance if blood quantums (BQ) are taboo; my family was raised with it and our family members still use the terminology.

My grandfather was 100% Kanienʼkehá꞉ka (Mohawk) and we know his parents and siblings and tribal information via Canada where he was raised. We have old photos and his original tribal surname.

He married my grandmother, a white woman of mixed Irish and English ancestry, and had 4 children. In BQ terms, each of his children would be assumed to be 50% Mohawk.

My mother bought a whole pack of Ancestry DNA kits years ago and gifted them to her kids and niece, and I only returned mine recently because a family member asked why I never returned mine. So I dug it up from a storage bin, spit a lot, and mailed it in.

My mom's DNA came back as 16% Indigenous Canadian (as opposed to 50% in BQ) which surprised us all

Mine came back as 11% (instead of 25, as assumed by BQ).

It's strange to me how DNA is such a lottery. I feel even more distant from my indigenous family now, despite being only 2 generations removed from the reservation. We have plenty of cousins in Canada who were fortunate enough to learn the language in school and keep their history alive, and they have a local radio station that broadcasts in Mohawk, which I think is fantastic. They do wonderful things like beadwork and keep those traditions alive.

I feel almost... a sense of loss, for lack of a better term? My grandfather was a lifelong smoker and had laryngeal cancer in the late '70s. They had to remove his voicebox before I was even born, so I've never heard his voice. He refused to learn to talk because he "didn't want to sound like a robot" (his words, not mine!) He was so bitter and angry after the surgery that he spent all his time alone in his room doing crossword puzzles and as a kid in the '80s we were told to "leave grandpa alone". Despite being able to communicate in writing, he had no interest in getting to know us kids, so I never got his stories. His history. I heard a little from my mother and aunt about the horrible society that beat it into him that being "Indian" was a terrible thing, and when he left the reservation he came to the USA and registered on everything as "white" despite having deep caramel skin and distinct features. He died when I was 6.

Maybe it's dumb but all I have of him are pictures, and without the stories, and with so little of his blood, I feel more removed from him now.

Has anyone else received surprising and/or disappointing results from a DNA test?

And another opuntia (the sign is there because the glochids detach and can stick in fingers, clothing, pets...)

Going in the trash I can't deal with her bs anymore

She releases glottids if you give her the wrong look from across the room and somehow I'm finding spines in me without touching her. Idk if people normally keep them in terrariums but not worth it for me. If you see this plant for sale or in my case someone tries to offload it onto you RUN. She is the devil

Charges filed against Mormon preacher Stephen Maggio who had CSAM on his phone, was turned in to police by content creator

This is from December 2025. I can't find any kind of follow up if the charges went to sentencing, and I can't find him as a registered sex offender. Either the courts are backed up or he got a walk.

All I found was this, the Lake County Grand Jury Indictments List https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/ILLAKE/bulletins/405813e
