it's really just vibes. i'm picking up mortal shell 2 and the MGS COLLECTION VOL 2 using playstation store credit. but i'm gonna go to eb games or jb hi-fi to pick up dawnwalker, onimusha and wolverine physically and make a nice day out of it. i'm also gonna buy those PS exclusives like GOW ragnarok and the last of us 1 and 2 physically too. or maybe i'll do it digitally if they're cheaper. i think that this fixation with one or the other isn't neccessarily case by case. i think it also comes down to gaming as a whole and if it's controlling you to the point that even the mere THOUGHT of stepping out of these "golden rule" boundaries is stressing you out.

they killed off all the cool villains. vulture, electro, rhino, shocker, scorpion. an amazing roster of colourful, comedic, unique and energetic comic book favourites, dead. for nothing. i hope it's bait. i hope they all come back in SM3 with a big "on your left" endgame style reunion. they're villains and spiderman has to fight them, but in the first game you could tell that there was a core bond there. in MM and SM2, that silver age comic book style heroism was lost for the more graphic novel style interpersonal shit that's always kinda boring for superheroes.

like the gameplay looks good but there's no fucking curb appeal. there's hardly any big marketing, unless you count IGN posting on an off week. i think these games will go the way of the mindseye.
they garner some hype because of that "i want smaller games made with love" sentiment, the very same sentiment that always seems to produce nothing but beige, boring, unbranded, corner store bought bullshit.
same thing with spine, it has no stopping power. it looks good, but they aren't being helicoptered to the top of the mountain by ubisoft, activision, suckerpunch or hell even rockstar. they're standing on their own stumpy little legs, and that just doesn't hit the same anymore. especially not with all *this* stuff coming out later this year.
An even spread of mindless shoot em ups and heartfelt stories.
this is the only game on my console until the MW4 open beta comes out in just about 2 weeks. and i'm fine with that.
a game that's forgiving, but lets me parrymogg every attack. hearing that satisfying clang from the sword every time i hit the button.
i'd go out and get 2r, 3r and 4r again specifically for this. get the whole collection of classics. i think they could incorporate all the cheese AND bump up the gore to re2 and 9 standards. that'd be great. yeah there would be some trade offs but goddamn it i'd take them to be able to play this game at the standard set by the re2 remake.
