30 éve forgatták a Csinibaba című filmet, ami 1962 augusztusában játszódik. Forgatási helyszínek Budapest/Józsefváros, Ganz Kolónia telep, Orczy kert [volt Asztalos János Ifjúsági Park], Margit körút, Rákospalota, Zugló.
A Golgota utca és a Könyves Kálmán körút találkozásánál található egykori tisztviselőtelep belső udvarai és gangos épületei adták a filmbéli lakóközösség életterét.
Orczy-kert [volt Asztalos János Ifjúsági Park]: Ez a park volt a központi helyszíne a Ki Mit Tud?-ra való készülődésnek, a szabadtéri színpados táncoknak, valamint a híres „Su-su bolondság” zenei betétnek.

Off-grid solar smart bench in a public park. (Tiszaújváros, Hungary)
This is a Steora smart bench operating completely off-grid via integrated solar panels on the seating surface.
Technical features and specifications:
Power & Connectivity: Built-in wireless Qi charging pads on top, fast-charging USB ports on the sides, and a 4G/5G Wi-Fi hotspot.
Thermal Control: An internal cooling system powered by the solar panels prevents the surface from overheating in direct summer sunlight.
Regarding common design critiques: Grid Integration: A grid connection is not cost-effective. The resource investment for trenching, copper cabling, and grid-tie infrastructure outweighs the minimal excess power generated by this surface area.
A solar bench that generates clean energy without turning your thighs into a barbecue 🍗☀️ (Tiszaújváros, Hungary)
We all know the struggle of sitting on public benches in July and instantly regretting every life choice.
This Steora smart bench runs entirely on solar power, but thanks to the solarpunk gods, it has an internal battery-powered cooling system. The solar panels absorb the heat, and built-in fans keep the seating surface chill.
You can literally charge your phone wirelessly, use the free Wi-Fi, and save the planet—all while keeping your butt at a crisp, comfortable 22°C. 10/10 infrastructure, no grilled hams today.

The History of Ga Funerary Traditions and the Evolution of Figurative Coffins in Greater Accra, Ghana
Context & Background Story:
In the Ga communities of Greater Accra, funerals are unique, massive celebrations focused on honoring the deceased’s life, profession, and status. This rich heritage drove the mid-20th-century transition from traditional decorative palanquins into what are now globally recognized **figurative coffins—custom caskets shaped like animals, cars, teapots, or tools.
Key aspects of these traditions:
The Designs: The caskets reflect the individual's life or aspirations. A traditional priest might rest in a giant blue teapot used for rituals, a fisherman in a large whale, or someone who dreamed of traveling abroad in a stylized airplane. The final design is usually a collective decision made by the family and local artisans.
Ritual Continuity & Secrecy: For high-ranking traditional chiefs and priests, the actual burial often takes place privately at night. The public processions utilize empty figurative coffins or palanquins to maintain traditional privacy and sacred customs.
The "Laying Out" Vigil: Elaborate wakes are held the night before the funeral. The deceased is carefully dressed, accessorized, and sometimes posed in a lifelike, seated, or standing position inside large tents, allowing the community and relatives to interact with them and pay their final respects.
Modern Evolution: This vibrant funeral culture is also the birthplace of the world-famous "coffin dancers." Pioneered around 2012 by Benjamin Aidoo, this choreography transformed rigid pallbearing into an uplifting, celebratory art form meant to bring joy to mourners. Today, these custom caskets have also entered the global art world, with many being collected by international museums.

EDIT / CORRECTION: Thanks to the local community members for the correction. Please note that these figurative coffins and specific "laying out" traditions are strictly unique to the Ga people of Greater Accra. They do not represent the funeral cultures of other major ethnic groups in Ghana, such as the Asante or Fante, despite how international media often generalizes it.

How George Lucas achieved the floating landspeeder illusion on a budget in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
To make Luke Skywalker’s X-34 landspeeder appear to hover over the desert terrain of Tatooine without modern CGI, the production team mounted angled mirrors to the lower sides of the vehicle. These mirrors reflected the surrounding sand and salt flats, completely concealing the wheels from the camera's view.
A few additional production facts about this setup:
- The Chassis: The landspeeder was actually built around the running gear and chassis of a British three-wheeled microcar called the Bond Bug, designed by Tom Karen of Ogle Design.
- The "Force Field" Blur: To further hide imperfections, the crew smeared a small amount of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) directly onto the camera lens right under the vehicle. This blurred the ground beneath the speeder, an effect George Lucas jokingly called the "force field".
- Alternative Rigs: For close-ups and more complex moving shots where the mirrors wouldn't work, the production used a second landspeeder attached to a long, hidden crane arm

[1956] Remembering and Celebrating a Legendary Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard, Greg Noll!
Remembering the legendary Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard, Greg Noll!
Long before becoming a big-wave surfing pioneer, Greg worked the beaches of LA County as a recurrent ocean lifeguard for many summers while living in the South Bay. In 1956, he won the International Surf Festival Judge Taplin Relay and even represented the United States at the Olympic International Surf Carnival in Torquay, Australia.
He also spent a summer working right here at Cabrillo Beach. To this day, this signed photo and a plaque hang proudly at our Lifeguard Headquarters. Thought you guys might appreciate this unique piece of ocean history! Aloha!

A beautiful lesson about empathy from my mother.
I heard my mother asking the neighbors for salt. But we had salt at home. I asked her why she asked her neighbors for salt. And she replied: - Because our neighbors don’t have a lot of money and they often ask us for something. From time to time I also ask them for something small and economical, so that they feel that we need them too. This way, they will feel more comfortable and it will be easier to continue asking us for everything they need.” And that’s what I learned from my mother… let’s build empathetic, humble, supportive children with too many values to mention!
In June 2010, President Obama took then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for a surprise lunch at Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington, Virginia.
The two world leaders shared fries, with Obama ordering a cheddar cheeseburger and Medvedev opting for a spicier burger with cheddar, jalapeños, and mushrooms.
This is what REAL diplomacy looks like: no frills and finding common ground… even in the STRANGEST of places!
One year later: Swiss startup Sun-Ways reports positive results from its pilot project laying removable solar panels between active railway tracks!
The Swiss startup Sun-Ways has been running its world-first pilot project for a full year now near Buttes station (Canton of Neuchâtel).
They installed 48 solar panels (380W each) along a 100-meter stretch of active railway tracks, generating around 16,000 kWh of electricity annually to be fed directly into the local grid. After a year of testing with over 11,000 trains passing over them, the system has proven to be perfectly stable and safe.
Why this is pure Solarpunk:
- Zero Land Use: It utilizes thousands of kilometers of existing, otherwise unused infrastructure without touching agricultural land or nature.
- Removable Design: The panels can be mechanically removed in minutes by a specialized maintenance train, allowing normal track repairs to continue without a hitch.
- Massive Scaling Potential: The automated laying machine can deploy up to 1,000 square meters of solar panels per day.
If scaled to just half of Switzerland’s railway network, it could generate 1 TWh of green energy per year—covering about 2% of the entire country's electricity needs!
The tech has already caught the attention of France's SNCF for potential future deployment based on these successful first-year results.
