i made a translation app, that speaks what i type/speak in. it's mine, not in the cloud

i made a translation app, that speaks what i type/speak in. it's mine, not in the cloud.

how did i do it? i used AI to code it and then i ran it on my computer. the voice i use or the words i type stay on my computer and dont go to some server farm/data center for some AI to analyze what i say "to make their product better"

i make my product better by iterating based on what i already created.

this took me 30min+ to do. you can do the same and slowly but surely move off the cloud ai analysis.

A design class imagined a new metro station in my town, and it's glorious

Here's a local story about it:

San Antonio BART station is still a fantasy, but here’s what design students think is possible

The context is that there has long been a desire to add a station to the Bay Area's BART network in Oakland. The system was designed to help suburban commuters get into San Francisco, not to let people into or out of a black, immigrant neighborhood in Oakland. The area is a transit desert. Despite being on a waterfront and surrounded by a public college and working class homes, it's mostly warehouses and a massive homeless encampment. Local activists have been trying for a decade to get the transit system to build a new station here.

This spring, a famed local architect helped put together a class at a design college to imagine what the area could look like if it got a station, along with affordable housing and a rewilded creek to manage flood risk. What they've proposed is pretty dope, and I'm hopeful that it reignite momentum to finally connect this area to the transit system.
