Members of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

The 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment was one of the first official African American regiments in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

Became nationally celebrated after leading the assault on Fort Wagner, South Carolina, on July 18, 1863, where it suffered heavy casualties but proved the courage and discipline of Black soldiers.

The 332nd Fighter Group, part of the Tuskegee Airmen, was the first all-African American fighter group in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

They became legendary as the “Red Tails” (or “Red Tail Angels”) for their distinctive bright red tail markings on their aircraft and their exceptional bomber escort record

US Army Sgt. Henry Johnson - Medal of Honor Recipient during WWI

Henry Johnson served with great bravery and distinction during WWI with the 369th Infantry Regiment known as The Harlem Hellfighters. He was posthumously awarded The Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery under fire during WWI.

A true American hero.
