Is it moral to rape someone so nobody ever gets raped? r/moralityscaling argues about the morality to stop a crime forever if you commit it once

Source

https://www.reddit.com/r/MoralityScaling/s/OQasK7OfFf

One user commented

I volunteer to be raped so it could never happen again, you got this bros

Edit: alright alright, addressing the whole "you volunteer so it's consent" thing because yeah fair I didn't about this, okay but how about we add that I don't know when I'll get raped? Basically even though I am volunteering right now I wouldn't be able to tell if one day when some guy/woman hold me at gunpoint trying to sexual assault me if they are doing as part of "the rape to end all rapes" I volunteered for or if it's a different rape? So there's still element of fear and uncertainty that could add to this and make get second thoughts and well get dubious consent?

.

Replies followed

1)If you volunteered that would mean you consented, therefore it wouldn’t be rape

..

2)Well, as soon as it started happening, you would know that this could be the "rape to end all rapes" and start allowing it to happen, which would be consent, and therefore it would no longer be rape

Only way it could work would be for it to be done in such a way that by the time you even realize it's happening, it's already done. Making it impossible for you to consent regardless of whether you want to.

...............

I'm a guy, I'd accuse a woman of raping me. No one would take me seriously, at least that's the case in my country.

Now no one can make false rape accusations

.

1)nobody would ever believe false rape accusations if nobody could commit rape to begin with

..

2)Yeah but it's a lot easier to falsely accuse someone of raping you, than it is to actually personally go and rape someone yourself.

..........

I'd do it if i don't get the penalties.

.

1)Then would it still be a crime?

Some sacrifices gotta be made

..

2)If i still get the penalties then screw everyone else, they can suffer

........

If the victim volunteers then I would absolutely do it

.

1)I mean, that wouldn't be rape, would it?

..

2)forced consent is also rape tho

..

3)that wouldn’t be forced consent though, like if you JUST asked (didn’t push) and they agreed, just unenthusiastically, that wouldn’t be a crime because they said yes.

..

4)well then you didn't prevent rape :(

Can bots be used to upvote posts?

Ive been coming across political posts which can be suspected as propoganda post with 0 upvotes and maybe couple of comments.

Whenever i downvote, it goes to -1, and then when i refresh, it goes back to 0. I assumed other ppl upvoted it, but then it happened back to back, which made me suspect. Either they are paid IT team with multiple accounts, or is it a bot? Or can a mod alter a post by not letting downvotes go beyond 0?

Someone commented that this um Grandma who posts explicit content is AI and now I'm wondering if it's true

This one is a bit strange lol, I see this creator on my page often and send it to my friends as a joke because it's kinda bizarre but after someone commented that this person's entire page is ai-generated I started wondering as well but couldn't really tell.

Why don't we use salt water for our toilets?

Instead of using sweet and clean water for our toilets, why don't we use salt water from the ocean and also use non-corrosive materials like titanium? Will it be too expensive? Will it be useless?

Can someone explain the Muslim 72 virgins thing in a respectful way?

Why are virgins considered a reward? Isn’t their status as virgins short-lived? Is there a similar reward for females? Are these real women who died as virgins, or are they newly created virgins for the after-life?

best friend got mad i made his bday dinner instead of buying it

For context i had already paid for everyone to go to an escape room since he likes that kinda stuff and it was abt 35 per person for a group of 6. Money was alr kinda tight before the escape room but i genuinely couldn’t afford to take anyone out to eat. Everyone else loved it and even grabbed seconds but I could tell he was disappointed by it. I feel bad abt it so maybe i could make it up to him by taking him out when i have the money.

he loves thai food so i made red curry over rice + spring rolls and cucumber salad but eb ate those before i could get a pic

edit: for everyone asking me if he ever said he was mad he didn’t explicitly say so but all this happened yesterday and he hasn’t talked to me since then which is highly unusual ( for eb telling me to text him i took a ss it’s in the comments )
