Back in the 2000s, even mid mass masala films were flops or below average grossers unlike today where even atrocious big star mass masala films make money. One of the reasons I think is post 2010, many new genre films came in so the supply of mass masala films decreased therefore the demand had been increased and people were starting to accept even the mid ones as the best ones because the number of those kinds of films shortened. But another thing to see is only those big star mid films make money not the tier 2, 3 ones. It also raises a question whether people only accept to watch the tier 1 heroes mid films rather than any film done by other tiers?
