Ben Gvir has been posting videos of himself giddily abusing Palestinian detainees for months, but only now that he’s doing it to foreign activists is it an issue for these people. Meanwhile, torturing and sexually assaulting Palestinian prisoners is not a problem.

What do y’all think of the use of the red triangle emoji (🔻) in regard to Palestine?

I ask because I’ve used it a few times in the past, and I’m wondering if it might have been inappropriate. I am critical of Hamas and didn’t intend it to represent support for them specifically, more armed resistance against ‘israel’ as a whole, but even still I wanted to get a second opinion.

Intending to review a Jazz-themed song and looking for insight since people here will know more about this stuff than I do.

(Select to the mastered instrumental. I couldn’t find a way to link it specifically)

So, this is the instrumental for the song Scratch (Leave You Starstruck) by Vane Lily, an electronic producer who works primarily with synthetic vocalists (Vocaloid/Synthesizer V). This song specifically is also a collaboration with another electronic/synthetic vocals artist, Neokin.

My main issue with it is that I really don’t like horn sounds, specifically the opening/closing instrumental as well as those that play after the second chorus leading into the bridge. They honestly remind me of one of those knock-off musical instrumentals.

Here’s an example of what I mean.

Also, am I crazy or does the instrumental overall sound like Mario Kart music? Specifically that of the Wii and 8/8 Deluxe versions. Now, don’t get me wrong, I like Mario Kart music, it’s just I don’t think that’s what the creator was going for. I get the sense they were trying to have a more serious Jazz vibe to it.

I do think the piano intro as well as the instrumentals for the second pre-chorus and the more downbeat part of the bridge are alright. They definitely have the most atmosphere to them. But for the most part, it just sounds too silly, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find myself laughing at it.

I know it’s probably just a me thing but I don’t think I’m supposed to be getting Toad Harbour flashbacks while listening to this.

There are vocals on the proper, finished version of this song, although I’m not sure if I’d recommend listening to that. Like I said before, the creator tends to work with synthetic vocalists, which can sound good, but in this case sounds (at least to me) as if siri’s crashing out at you, at least on the higher notes.
